We are currently recruiting for the position of **Mechanical Systems Professional**.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

As a part of a strong, multi-disciplinary technical team, the Mechanical Systems Professional is responsible to engage with and support the design and retrofit of mechanical systems to promote energy efficiency in the commercial, and residential sectors.

This individual will work closely with program teams, customers, and the space heating, cooling, ventilation, and hot water heating sector that serves those customers to increase the performance of mechanical systems. Responsibilities are very diverse, with engagement in all aspects of new construction and renovation from the early design stage through to (retro) commissioning. The work day involves practical hands-on involvement.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide mechanical systems technical support for energy efficiency programs, their development, oversight, maintenance, promotion, and delivery including, furnace and boiler programs, heat pump programs, and residential and commercial heating, ventilating and air-conditioning retrofits.
- Respond to participant inquiries as they relate to program technical issues.
- Undertake periodic site visits to assist with project scope development and ensure as-built conditions are consistent with project deliverables.
- Provide technical and educational support for the development and evolution of building guidelines and standards.
- Review mechanical drawings and specifications to identify energy efficiency opportunities specific to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and associated controls.
- Assist in the review of energy models and energy audits.
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with building design professionals, associations, and trade allies within the design and construction industry.
- Maintain and enhance mechanical systems knowledge through educational development.
- Identify market opportunities to advance energy efficiency initiatives and support efforts that contribute to the achievement of high-performance building objectives.
- Occasionally required to travel and attend meetings and functions outside of normal working hours.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- A four-year degree from a university of recognized standing majoring in Mechanical Engineering, plus a minimum of four years of directly related experience.

- A related two-year diploma, typically mechanical technology, from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of six years of directly related experience demonstrating the required skills and abilities for the position.

or
- an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Eligible for registration with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, or CTTAM or other related professional association.
- Proven experience in the design or review of mechanical systems construction drawings.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles as they relate to building mechanical services.
- Certification in energy efficiency and sustainability field such as CEM®, LEED® and/or building enclosure professional associations and others are an asset; please provide relevant certificates of qualification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related building energy efficiency experience.
- Experience in ventilation design, and mechanical systems control strategies.
- Working knowledge of the National Energy Code for Buildings and National Building Code.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE and CSA standards related to mechanical systems and energy efficiency.
- Experience with natural gas and electricity rates as used to perform savings calculations for energy efficiency measures in buildings.
- Proven ability to independently plan, organize and manage multiple projects in specific areas of responsibility involving a high degree of specialization while meeting deadlines and commitments.
- Demonstrated diplomacy and tact with proven capability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license.
