AECOM’s Canadian Environmental team is seeking an experienced Senior Acoustic Engineer to be based in Calgary, Alberta or Burnaby, British Columbia to support the growth of our Acoustics practice in Canada. In this role you will be working on projects throughout Mid
- and Western Canada, with support and technical review from other Senior Acoustic Engineers in other offices in Canada. Also, you will participate in knowledge sharing within AECOM’s global Acoustics Technical Practice Group, our internal network of over 380 AECOM staff who are either working in or have an active interest in Acoustics.

Responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:

- Plan, schedule and organize all phases of project work activities
- Preparation of proposal documents and technical deliverables
- Lead acoustic engineering impact assessment, compliance reporting, and design projects
- Assessment of noise and vibration impacts and development of mitigation solutions
- Noise propagation calculations and software modelling
- Site work including noise and vibration measurements, logger set up, and site reviews.
- Building successful business relationships with internal teams and external clients
- Coordination with Canada region Acoustics practice group
- Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge.
- Make recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.
- Make recommendations on research requests, objectives, priorities, and timing.
- Assess need for change and recommends development of standards.
- Assess work against standards, objectives and specifications.
- Utilize advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.
- Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Develop solutions which are highly innovative.
- Assignments are often self-initiated.
- Acts as advisor to management and clients.
- Oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
- Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Maintains currency with local, national and international regulatory guidelines and standards.
- Participates in consultation with regulators related planned updates to guidelines, regulations and standards
- Develops solutions which are highly innovative.
- Assignments are often self-initiated.
- Acts as advisor to management and clients.
- Oversees the work of less experienced scientists.

**Qualifications** Minimum Requirements**:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering with at least 1 course in vibration and 6 years of experience.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA),), or the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the province of British Columbia (EGBC), or eligibility for Professional Engineering license within 6 months of hire date.
- 7+ years of related experience.
- Alberta or British Columbia Driver’s license Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with others, both directly and remotely
- Some Field work involved but mostly office based position
- Ability to travel for field work, including experience with noise and vibration monitoring protocols and equipment
- Solid experience with industry software (such as Cadna\A, SoundPLAN, STAMSON)
- Fluent knowledge of Alberta’s and British Columbia provincial environmental guidelines and federal regulatory requirements
