**Domestic Household Goods Planner/Dispatcher**
This role liaises between drivers, Members (moving companies), and operations. The purpose of this role is to plan, dispatch Van Line registered weight in a manner that maximizes utilization of resources, profitability, and customer satisfaction. In addition, this role supports the moving process form load to delivery.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Arrange and ensure the movement of household goods shipments in the most efficient manner while meeting/exceeding on time delivery target.
- Responsible for complying with all hauling policies
- Dispatch planning should consider the Van Operator’s work/life balance and make every effort to minimize empty miles when planning loads
- Understand and communicate order financials and revenue distribution
- Understand and communicate tariff rules and regulations
- Strong understanding and adherence for corporate policy
- Participate in formal and informal discussion regarding solutions to any shipments that are in danger of being late
- Constantly strive to improve Quality of Service and on-time deliveries
- Control costs whenever possible, in particular goodwill expenditures
- Plan, communicate and update dispatch programs
- Maintain communication between all parties ensuring everyone involved is aware of changing circumstances
- Adeptly manage phone calls, deal with front line issues i.e., shuttles, labour, weather issues
- Strong attention to order details with focus on customer satisfaction
- Attend regular departmental meetings
- Support in collecting pertinent information - i.e., weights, C.O.D.’s, and paperwork.
- Assist in the training of all new staff and share best practices
- Comprehension and respect of MoverOne’s corporate structure
- Compile and investigate reports as directed by Management
- Special projects, assignments and other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:
- Customer service skills are a must. Experience in a customer service role is an asset
- Phone skills are critical
- Knowledge of Canadian geography, highway systems and comfort with mapping programs is a must
- Proven ability to multi-task, problem-solve and prioritize activities
- Organizational and time-management skills are a must
- Clear and effective communications skills are imperative
- Attention to detail a must
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Team oriented individual who can work with others on shared responsibilities
- Proven record of taking ownership for job responsibilities
- Confidentiality is imperative and required
- Extended moving industry/Van Line knowledge and experience is an asset
- Good command of the English language and grammar
- High school education is the minimum qualification
**Working Conditions**
- Fast paced and time sensitive
- Challenging scenarios arise and must be met with clear decisive action
- Longer hours including occasional weekend/holiday attendance may be needed to meet seasonal requirements
- Weekend and after-hours calls as required
- Limitations on vacation during peak periods (June - September)
Flexible Language Requirement:
- French not required
