**PERMANENT VACANCY**

**One (1) Permanent - Full-Time (1.0 FTE, 35 hours/week), Research Specialist (12- month position)**

**LOCATION**:Bluewater District School Board (Chesley)

**SALARY**:$38.95 - $40.17 (Sept 1/21)

**COMMENCING**:As soon as possible

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to inform decision-making;
- Mine, analyze, and interpret data from internal and external sources such as Aspen, Trillium, eLite, EQAO, and existing databases;
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of data sources and data gathering techniques;
- Collaborate with staff to develop surveys using Qualtrics and analyze results;
- Assist with Safe Schools survey and demographic census planning, implementation, analysis, and reports;
- Use predictive modeling to increase capacity of board, relative to projecting and planning;
- Analyze trends and patterns over time using various benchmarks and comparative data;
- Support school and system administrators with the analysis of data using tools such as Compass for Success ;
- Assist with the adoption and standardization of new data analysis tools and techniques;
- Develop accurate graphs, reports, dashboards, and presentations to convey complex information in an understandable and compelling manner;
- Serve on appropriate committees and groups, offering data and analytical expertise and fostering data information sharing and collaborative approaches on a variety of projects;
- Work in collaboration with the SIS (Student Information System) Aspen team, Program, Student Success, and Student Support departments; and,
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Community college diploma or university degree in the field of library sciences, education, or other related field.

**ASSETS**:

- Working knowledge of IBM Compass for Success, Education Quality Assessment of Ontario (EQAO), Aspen, or other organizational data sources;
- Strong coordination, organizational, research, and time management skills;
- Political acumen with ability to identify emerging issues and trends;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models;
- Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques;
- Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages;
- Experience analyzing data from third party providers; and
- Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders.
