**Strategic Sourcing Manager**:

TAG Hardware designs, engineers and manufactures consumer products for the closet and modular furniture industry. Our 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant is located in South Surrey, British Columbia. The facility houses our head office, plastic injection molding machines, assembly work stations, and a warehouse, where we develop and produce our patented products for customers globally.

**About the Role - Job Description**

We are looking for an experienced, technically oriented professional that possesses a deep understanding of the supply chain cycle and a passion for developing new business relationships and negotiating striking deals

In this role you are responsible for maximizing the effectiveness of all sourcing activities. It involves working with a diverse supply base that utilizes complex manufacturing processes across various geographic locations. You will gain knowledge in a variety of products and their technical requirements, related materials, commodities and manufacturing processes.

Role Pillars:

- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, assess, select and engage with new potential suppliers for TAG’s core commodities and products.
- Pricing Analysis: Understand "Should cost" price. Breakdown product prices by considering all inputs associated with making it and delivering it (raw materials, manufacturing processes, tooling requirements, labour estimations, freight and logistics).
- Market Intelligence: Track commodity pricing, exchange rate fluctuations and asses market trends for anticipation on pricing changes.
- Risk Analysis: Perform category evaluations to determine risk and plan contingency for existing and new products.
- Continuous Improvement: Find opportunities to improve product and re-engineer processes to improve efficiency with a cost reduction mindset.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Engage with vendors:

- Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships. Influence and persuade vendors to add more value while supporting their success.
- Gain understanding of factory operations, manufacturing processes and costing structures.
- Prepare sourcing quote packages (RFQs), including service and quality expectations, procurement specifications, demand, packaging and logistics requirements.
- Understand and analyze competitive quotes with deep understanding of all pricing elements, from manufacturing processes to import criteria and freight costs.
- Release tooling and product purchase orders and track samples and product delivery as required.
- Coordination of material lead times and availability for product launches.
- Develop tools and models for cost estimation based on product knowledge paired with supplier capabilities and processes.
- Carry out on-site audits of external suppliers as part of the qualification process and ongoing monitoring.
- Improve supplier technical documentation practices - specifications, drawings, quality plans, etc.

Collaborate with teammates:

- Product Management for coordination of new product launches, inventory control, creation of new stock codes and Bill of Materials structures when needed.
- Trade Compliance, research and technical knowledge of tariff classification and overall customs regulations, including rules of origin, valuation, trade agreements, HS tariff and import regulatory requirements.
- Sales & Marketing to understand what drives demand and supporting special customer initiatives.
- Quality Engineering: constant feedback and support for supplier best performance and ongoing quality improvements.
- Customer Service, for general product inquiries and component clear-to-build order support.

**About You - Education and Experience**
- Undergraduate degree in related field, engineering will be considered an asset.
- Technical understanding of manufacturing methods and processes.
- Negotiation skills with common sense understanding of relative value and cost.
- Risk analysis and strategic thinking.
- Experience finding new suppliers - learning about new manufacturing methods, materials - evaluating potential suppliers - factory visits - relationship building - negotiation skills - resourcing - identifying areas for cost savings - working between engineers and manufacturers helping to advance our design for manufacturing abilities.
- Strong computer skills and analytical ability
- International business experience, particularly with supply chain in Asia/Mexico.
- Asks incisive and insightful questions. Has curiosity to learn how things are made.
- Manufacturing knowledge on extruded/anodized aluminum and/or zinc die-casting will be considered a great asset.
- Self-starter, proactive and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
- Must be high-performance team player and be willing to work in a dynamic, growing, demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel, 2-3 times per year.
