Position Title**:Rail Inspector - 1 Position**

Location: 1150 Stevenson Rd. S., Oshawa, ON

Shift: 7:30AM to 3:30PM, expect overtime, weekends and holidays

Status: Full time Permanent

Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour, increase to $19 per hour after probationary period

**Summary of Position**:
The Rail Inspector ensures that all vehicles are secured on the rail cars, then close and seal the railcar doors.

**Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks**:

- Check to make sure all vehicles are properly secured in the rail cars; report any problems to the Operations Supervisor (Rail)
- Inspect for proper deck lid height in rail cars
- Close and lock all rail car doors
- Seal all rail cars entering the yard
- Perform audit of rail car decks, inspecting for potential repairs to be made and report findings to Operations Supervisor (Rail)
- Complete weekly audit reports to be always available for review by management
- Report repairs completed to secure the vehicle on the rail cars
- Perform all Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) responsibilities (one traveler per load, record seal number)
- Remove defective bridge plates from service daily
- Maintain appropriate level of communication with Operations Supervisor (Rail)
- Ensure yard and rail quality standards are maintained
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Working Conditions**:Work primarily conducted outside - must work, climb, walk and drive in all types of weather, including extreme weather conditions; Work at a fast pace; Work in tight spaces; Personal Protective Equipment provided (e.g., high visibility safety vest, coveralls, gloves)

**Education, Experience, and Minimum Requirements**:

- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Minimum 1-year driving experience
- Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles
- Valid full G driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Background Check will be required
- _ Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)_ certification
- Ability to pass the _AWC Safe Driving Quiz_
- Good physical condition to handle walking, standing, climbing, lifting, and carrying heavy materials
