Historical Interpreter

Tipple Park Museum is seeking a Historical Interpreter to join our team this summer Tipple Park Museum is a local history and arts museum located in Evansburg, Alberta.

This is a student position that goes from May 1st to August 31st. Please ensure that you are eligible for the Young Canada Works program before applying.

**Qualifications**:

- Be currently pursuing a post-secondary education in one of the following areas: history, education, museum studies, library studies, modern language and cultural studies, or similar topics. Students in other fields of study may also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with people of all ages, including children.
- Interest in the history of the Evansburg and Entwistle area.
- Experience working in customer service or public-facing role is an asset.
- Computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Canva.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR an asset.

**Job Duties**:

- Give guided tours to the public through historic buildings and around museum grounds.
- Assist with delivering school programs and planning and leading community programs. This includes leading activities, working with children, lesson planning, doing crafts and playing games, and providing an educational experience.
- Learn about how to care for collections and archival materials, and assist with collections tasks.
- Assist with gift shop sales and tidying.
- Clean museum building and heritage buildings.
- Assist manager with social media, research, newspaper articles, exhibit set-up, and summer events.

**Salary**: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
