**Position Background**:
The HDPE Fusion Technician is responsible for performing various tasks related to the fusion of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes and fittings. This role involves operating fusion equipment, conducting inspections, and ensuring the proper installation of HDPE piping systems.

The Fusing Technician is essential to the execution of routine tasks either on a project site or at a Ketek shop. In a situation to observe and ask questions, this position is vital to the growth of the Projects Team and is an important step toward the employee’s career growth and therefore the enhancement of Ketek’s field team.

**DUTIES**:
**HDPE Fusion Operations**:

- Set up and operate HDPE fusion machines according to manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
- Perform butt fusion, socket fusion, or electrofusion techniques to join HDPE pipes and fittings.
- Monitor the fusion process to achieve proper fusion pressure, temperature, and time for a secure joint.
- Conduct visual and non-destructive testing of fusion joints to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications.
- Detect and identify potential defects in fusion joints, such as cold fusion, lack of penetration, or voids.
- Receive, inspect, and prepare HDPE pipes and fittings for the fusion process
- Ensure proper storage and handling of HDPE materials to prevent damage or contamination
- Documentation and Reporting: Data Logging may be required
- Maintain detailed records of fusion activities, including fusion parameters, equipment used, and fusion results
- Prepare reports on completed fusion tasks and any identified issues for project documentation
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries during fusion operations
- Comply with industry regulations, codes, and standards related to HDPE pipe fusion
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of fusion equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Report any equipment malfunctions or defects to the supervisor for prompt resolution
- Complete all required paperwork on a daily basis, including hazard assessment and Daily Job Control Sheet
- Assist with the mobilization, monitoring, troubleshooting and demobilization of: fusion machines and materials

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract
- Experience towing a trailer
- Experience on Fusion equipment
- Experience working with basic hand tools
- Experience operating a chainsaw or chop saw
- Experience in reading technical drawings and specifications related to HDPE pipe installations
