We are seeking a skilled and reliable Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various types of equipment, off road and on road. This is a hands-on role that requires strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair that is required.
- Assist in executing preventative maintenance and visual inspections.
- Coordinate with the Shop Foreman to ensure tasks are completed to company standards.
- Keep Shop Foreman informed on repairs being completed in shop with possible completion dates/delays.
- Utilize power tools and specialized equipment to complete repairs and replacements.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and other machinery as needed.
- Ensure shop toolbox is organized and all shop tools are put away.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to supervisor to facilitate prompt correction and reporting.
- Follow the HS&E Program.
- Previous experience or similar role preferred, must be 2nd or 3rd year HET Apprentice.
- Appropriate credential and certifications.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Class 3 with air and asset.
- Ability to Operate Equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude with both electrical systems and hydraulics.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory.
- Proficient in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, and perform physical tasks as required.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate repairs and prioritize tasks
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and creative and innovative thinking.
- Must have your own tools.
- Must have your own transportation.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship

Pay: $31.00-$36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
