**Junior Buyer (On Site)**
Polycorp, located in Elora, Ontario, is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of engineered polymer products for a global customer base in the Rail, Mining, and Protective Linings industries. As a result of continued growth, we are looking for a Buyer.
**Position Summary**:The Junior Buyer assists in purchasing products or services for a company, ensuring cost-effective selection and management. Responsibilities include purchase order placement, follow-up and maintaining supplier relationships.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and products.
- Create purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Maintain positive supplier relationships.
- Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations for replenishment.
- Work collaboratively with other departments, such as sales and finance, to ensure alignment with purchasing decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and expenses.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements in procurement technology and practices.
- Qualifying vendors, evaluating bids, and negotiating prices and terms for purchased goods and services with support.
- Assisting in purchasing materials, supplies, and services at favorable terms for the organization.
- Working with suppliers to negotiate delivery schedules to support production requirements.
- Reviewing purchase orders, verifying orders, and evaluating bids offered by suppliers.
- Maintain database for suppliers in MRP system.
- Ensure the requirements of ISO 9001 and Polycorp's QMS are conformed with.
- Conform to all health and safety standards.
- All other duties as required.
**Skills**Education & Experience**Required**:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and computer literacy.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of market trends and vendor management techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and logistics.
- Graduates out of school with limited experience (up to 2 yrs)
**Additional Desirables (Preferred but Not Required)**:
- Experience working within a rubber production environment.
