**Description**:
Located out of our Calgary Head Office, the individual in this position will report to the Manager, Offgas Engineering and be responsible for providing technical support to the Offgas Operations Department. With mentorship from the Senior Staff Engineer, Instrumentation & Controls, primary responsibilities will support growth of the Analytics Program through use of PI Asset Framework (AF) to analyze and interpret operational data, enabling data-driven decisions, improve asset performance, and enhance process and equipment efficiency. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to transform raw data into actionable insights, an exciting opportunity to make significant impact on plant operations. The Offgas Engineering Team provides technical support to the Pioneer 1 and 2 NGL Extraction Facilities located at Fort McMurray, AB.

**Key Activities and Responsibilities**:

Primary Responsibilities_**
- Analytics Program Development
- Develop competency using PI Asset Framework (AF)
- Gather and integrate data into PI AF from various sources - including sensors, historians, and control systems - to accomplish the following:

- Create and maintain asset models to provide context for operational data
- Implement real-time monitoring solutions to detect anomalies and deviations in asset performance
- Develop predictive maintenance models to proactively identify and address equipment failures
- Analyze operational data to optimize processes, reduce energy consumption, and enhance asset performance
- Evaluate asset health and condition by analyzing data trends and key performance indicators
- Investigate and identify root causes of operational issues using historical data and analytics techniques
- Develop reports and dashboards to communicate key performance metrics and insights to stakeholders
- Integrate PI AF with other IT systems to ensure a holistic view of operations
- Utilize Python for data analysis, scripting, and integration with PI AF and related technologies

Secondary Responsibilities_**
- General Technical Support
- Support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program activities related to project execution, plant change implementation (MOCs), safety instrumented systems, preventative maintenance, reliability, optimization, and alarm management
- Engineering research, troubleshooting, calculations, and simulations
- Update technical documentation (Data Sheets, P&IDs, Cause & Effect Matrices, etc.)
- Improve technical document organization
- Develop, manage, and/or maintain operational productivity reports
- Assist with overall plant monitoring efforts
- Travel to site, as required

**Education, Skills and Experience**:

- Currently enrolled in a University Engineering program with a minimum of three years completed in the Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering disciplines
- Class 5 Driver’s License is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, data visualization, and Python is considered an asset
- Engineering or technical work experience is considered an asset

**Hours**:
This is a full-time Internship **beginning in** **May for a term of 16 months.**
Mon-Friday, 40 hours per week
