**About the Role**

The Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Cutter identifies, measures, cuts, labels and assembles engineered wood products. The EWP cutter and also assists with loading and securement of delivery loads of oversized product in a timely and efficient manner to in order to maximize production requirements and delivery time.

**Responsible to**:

- Accurately measures product on a daily basis.
- Cuts/saws Engineered Wood products in yard and determines the right selection for a variety of orders on a daily basis to maximize inventory and minimize waste.
- Works with Engineered Wood Products associate on order status, product availability and logistics to assure product is cut and delivered in a timely manner to our customer and to our other stores.
- Safely operates the forklift, loading and unload product.
- Be familiar with, and prioritize the safe operation and maintenance of all required equipment, including chainsaws, mitre saws, forklift, lumber cart, pallet jack, banding machine, panel saw etc.
- Manage all paperwork neatly and efficiently.
- Work in a courteous & productive manner with other staff and supervisors.
- Maintain inventory in the Engineered Wood Products yard, in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Identify and assist customers and other team members with advice, information, and/or help in gathering and loading of orders.
- Restock lumber bins, sheds, etc. when they are depleted.
- Build customer orders, in the sequence of building practices, to be delivered by company trucks.
- Use safe handling techniques, safeguarding inventory, customers, vehicles, and self.
- Make suggestions to the Yard Operations Manager and General Manager regarding policy, and/or standard operation procedure changes when you think that such changes will improve efficiency, morale, profits, sales, etc.
- Help train new employees under Pro Builders guidelines.
- Work on any special projects assigned by the Yard Operations Manager.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense.
- Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

**What We’re Looking for in You**
- High school diploma
- 19+ years of age
- 1-3 years Yard person experience
- Forklift and Equipment experience (chainsaws, mitre saws etc.)
- Able to handle and safely move lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) to or from the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc.
- WCB Falling and Bucking course or one-on-one training
- Able to work outdoors
- Upon hire - Completion of Pro Builders Forklift and chainsaw principles of operation and use

Certification Courses

**Nice to have: (Specialized experience or industry knowledge)**
- 2-3 years lumber & building materials experience
- Construction, Physical labor, warehousing or farming background
- Good driving record
- drivers abstract
- Other heavy equipment operation (Class 3 or Class 1 with air brake endorsement)
- First aid certificate
- Experience as a Joint Health & Safety Committee member
