The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

**Accessing Opportunities at Côté Gold**

**Geologist in Training (G.I.T.), Exploration**

**This is a one year contract.**

Directly accountable for their assigned exploration projects and special projects, the Junior Geologist (G.I.T.) collects relevant geological information while conducting exploration programs, executes assigned exploration projects in a cost-effective and timely fashion and provides technical assistance to other members of the Exploration team.

**Key Responsibilities**

Collect relevant geological information while conducting exploration programs on assigned projects and advance targets of merit.
- Provide logistic and technical support for the execution of exploration programs.
- Execute geological and technical tasks on assigned projects / exploration programs.
- Under the direction of the Senior Geologist / District Exploration Manager, conduct work in concert with other team members and assist in discovering and/or extending economic gold mineralization on assigned projects.
- Conduct geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, core logging and sampling, outcrop stripping, channel sampling, prospecting, or other relevant surveys and ensure all data is entered into designated databases on a daily basis.
- Ensure that all databases are regularly updated and that all collected data is transferred to the Sudbury Exploration Server on a weekly basis.
- Provide preliminary conclusions and recommendations on the work accomplished.

Execute assigned exploration projects in a cost-effective and timely fashion and ensure adherence to IMG and relevant provincial safety and environment standards.
- Ensure that all of IAMGOLD’s environmental and safety standards are met on any work assigned.
- Complete or contribute to a variety of reports as required.
- Deliver in a timely fashion of all information required for weekly and monthly reports as stipulated by the District Manager - Exploration.
- Maintain timely communication with the other departments at Côté.
- Ensure requests from the Côté Project Team are approved by the District Manager - Exploration.

To provide technical assistance to other members of the Exploration team with respect to the assigned projects.
- Supervise and give guidance to geotechnical staff, summer students and geological assistants as needed. Supervision will include the review of safe work practices and reporting on metrics for these workers.
- Clearly communicate expectations to workers under your supervision and review production targets and accomplishments on a regular basis. Focus on safety before production.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves**

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- A university degree in Geology and/or advanced degree.
- Enrolment in the Professional Geoscientists Ontario (as a G.I.T.) is mandatory.
- A valid driver’s license.

Work experience - Nature & Length
- Between 0-3 years of mineral exploration work experience is preferred.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Sense of urgency and focus.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Mapinfo).
- Ability to work well in a team.
