The Meals for Kids Coordinator will oversee all food and nutrition needs of ICYA's programs. Leadership will be given to the development and implementation of healthy eating practices to the youth we serve. Wherever possible, local children, youth and their families will be included in the purchasing, preparation and serving of healthy food choices. An emphasis will be placed on creating a family atmosphere of eating around the table as a group.

**Salaried. Full-benefits available. 40/hr per week position.**

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Menu Planning: Develop well-balanced, nutritious menus that cater to the dietary needs of the target population, often considering special dietary requirements and restrictions.
- Meal Preparation: Supervise other kitchen staff and volunteers, ensuring that meals are prepared safely and efficiently, often in large quantities.
- Food Sourcing: Establish relationships with local suppliers, food banks, and donors to secure ingredients and reduce costs.
- Budget Management: Manage the budget for the kitchen, making cost-effective choices to maximize resources.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards for food quality and safety, adhering to Manitoba and Canada health regulations and sanitation protocols.
- Distribution Logistics: Coordinate the distribution of meals, either through on-site facilities or meal delivery programs. Ensure that the meals reach the intended recipients on time.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers who assist with meal preparation and distribution.
- Community Service: Establish rapport with the community, understanding their specific needs, and making adjustments to meal programs accordingly.
- Data Management: Keep records of meal quantities served, track inventory, and prepare reports for funding purposes.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with other local organizations, agencies, and government programs to enhance the non-profit's impact and support the community's overall well-being.
- Coordinating Kitchen Activities: The kitchen is a shared space open to other staff and other approved agencies. The Coordinator will be responsible to ensure all other personnel are trained and following kitchen rules and regulations.

**Qualifications**
- Highly organized, able to plan and implement a meal plan.
- Relates well to youth and children.
- Experience in inner city settings an asset (but not mandatory).
- Is able to lead, direct and organize a volunteer team.
- Possession of a Food Handler’s Certificate, or the ability to acquire one.
- Experience cooking for larger group and running a kitchen is an asset.
- Help coordinate the meal for the annual Community Christmas Party, Community Summer Barbecue as well as obtaining the necessary food permits to run the event. Other
- Develop relationships with families from the surrounding area of ICYA, in order to incorporate them into the Meals for Kids program as volunteers and participants, as well as to work collaboratively in the planning of future Meals for Kids endeavours.
- Ensure that the kitchen is clean, stocked properly, health and safety procedures and codes are followed, and food is properly stored and managed.
- Work with the Program Coordinator in recruiting potential volunteers for the kitchen and provide training to the volunteers as necessary, in consultation with the Program Coordinator.
- Work closely with the Meals Coordinator of St. Aidan’s Christian School in the coordination of food and kitchen supplies usage as well in advocating for the vision of ICYA’s meals program.
