Dartmouth, Canada Cherubini Metal Works Full time

Cherubini Metal Works, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is looking for a Yard Labourer/Material Handler to join our team in Dartmouth, NS

**About the role**
- This is a day shift position (**7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday**), but you may be occasionally asked to fill in on the night shift.
- Do you have previous experience working with steel? That's a huge asset
- You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials from the yard to the shop throughout the production process.
- **You might be the perfect person for this role if you have demonstrated experience with rigging, the safe operation of overhead travelling cranes, and forklift.**

**Responsibilities**
- Active participation in safety work culture
- Clean and prepare work area to eliminate possible hazards.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Operating overhead cranes with or without load attached
- Utilize pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Load, unload, and identify materials and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to supervisor instruction.
- The ability to identify different steel profiles and shapes with little supervision.

**Requirements**:

- **Previous experience operating overhead travelling crane (including rigging the loads)**:

- **Previous experience operating forklift**:

- Willing to work night shift as requested (vacation coverage, parental leave coverage, etc.)
- Knowledge of steel shapes and profiles considered an asset
- Previous experience as a labourer, specifically in the steel industry, preferred.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Experience in grinding and working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs), perform physical labour, and walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Time management skills.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
