**The Opportunity - Associate Dean, School of Trades and Skills**

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, School of Trades and Skills, is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Associate Dean. The anticipated start date for this opportunity is May 2023.

Reporting to the Dean of the school, the Associate Dean has a shared responsibility for creating a culture that supports programming excellence, effective teaching/learning, while exceeding student expectations. Honesty, transparency, and serviceability are essential to the culture of the school.

This position provides administrative and leadership support to the Dean within the relevant school. In the Dean’s absence, the Associate Dean will assume all associated roles and responsibilities for leadership of the School.

**Key Job Functions**- Enhance the experience of students and foster an inclusive environment of respect.- Connect students with college supports designed to aid in their success.- Provide student support on matters of teaching and learning with faculty and staff in the school.- Work closely with the Office of the Registrar to ensure programs and schedules support programming excellence.- Support the development of new and expanding programming in support of growth as outlined in the Olds College Strategic Plan.- Serve as a key conduit between the school and the marketing and communications department to support student enrollment and tell our story.- Supervise, and evaluate the performance of academic support staff.- Support the Dean in setting strategic direction, decision-making, school operations.- Industry liaison for equipment support and industry specific programming.- Support the school in a manner that promotes excellence in instruction and an exceptional student experience.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (e.g. Journeyperson trades certification).
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a post-secondary institution or in the public school system is required.
- Post Secondary teaching experience or experience in an academic leadership role is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with current instructional practices and creating optimal learning environments.
- Knowledgeable of new and relevant technologies as it relates to post secondary education.
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a calm, effective and efficient manner.
- Preference will be given to individuals holding content knowledge expertise and/or accreditation within the particular school’s areas of study.
- Demonstrated positive leadership experience is considered a strong asset.
- Familiar with Trades and Skills Industries and accreditation bodies is an asset., i.e. Alberta Industry Trades Board
- Familiar with Business Management and Leadership are an asset
