DEFINITION

Under general supervision, patrols **Anglers Anchorage Marina** and adjacent dock and ground areas for the prevention of theft, vandalism, and hazardous conditions; performs boat towing and rescue operations; performs office clerical and custodial duties. Performs related duties as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
The duties of this journey level class include the performance of security, clerical and limited maintenance tasks at **Anglers Anchorage Marina**.
The Marina Supervisor may be required to work various shifts, weekends and holidays in order to provide twenty four/seven days per week marina operations.

**The Duties**:
1. Patrols and inspects docks and adjacent facilities for hazardous conditions, leaking boats; clears marina of debris;
2. Operates outboard skiffs, patrol boats, trucks and a variety of equipment including pumps, siphons and hand tools;
3. Operates and monitors UHF/VHF radio equipment, notifies police and fire departments and other agencies to respond to emergencies;
4. Responds to emergency situations to rescue persons and disabled vessels in the water or provide first aid;
5. Performs minor maintenance on the skiff and patrol boat; performs custodial duties in the absence of assigned maintenance staff;
6. Pumps excessive amounts of water from docked boats; may raise sinking boats depending on their size; may tow boats to another location, using a second boat and notifies berthers of problems with their vessels;
7. Answers questions from Marina patrons and the general public about berthing, current weather conditions and marina procedures;
8. Enforces rules, regulations and ordinances pertaining to the Marina;
9. Maintains records and accounts in conjunction with other Marina staff and prepares a variety of written/records and reports;
10. Rents berths and lockers and provides other services to berthers as requested; secures gates;
11. May pick up litter and debris from grounds as necessary;
12. May supervise in instructing Marina Assistants in job duties;
13. Performs related duties as assigned.

**Knowledge and Abilities**:
Note: The level and scope of knowledges and skills listed below are related to job duties as defined under Class Characteristics.

Knowledge of:
1. Seamanship and boat handling, including towing and rigging

2. Regulations and ordinances related to navigation and Marina use;
3. Use and minor maintenance of boats, outboard motors, pumps and hand tools used in the work;
4. Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work;
5. Regulations, procedures and the operation of UHF/VHF radio equipment;
6. Basic first aid techniques.

**Skill in**:
1. Operating boats for patrol, rescue and towing work;
2. Recognizing security or safety problems and responding appropriately;
3. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work;
4. Reacting effectively in emergency situations;
5. Exercising independent judgment and initiative in daily work activities;
6. Preparing brief, accurate oral and written reports and records;
7. Swimming and water rescue techniques.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of experience in marina operations equivalent to the Marina Supervisor level. Possession of a Coast Guard Auxiliary or Power Squadron certificate and a lifesaving certificate and small boat handling experience are desirable.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**

Must possess a valid BC driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work evening, night and weekend shifts. Must be willing to work out of doors in all weather conditions. Upon completion of probationary period, must obtain a valid certificate in cardio pulmonary resuscitation.

**Salary**: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
