**Job Description **Autism Nova Scotia in partnership with the Autism Alliance of Canada (AAC) and Inclusion Canada is delivering a labour market initiative called, Ready, Willing and Able (RWA). The RWA initiative is designed to build and increase employer capacity and demand to hire autistic job seekers or job seekers with an intellectual disability; conduct outreach to and provide supports service navigation to job seekers with an intellectual disability or autism; link employers with employment agencies and supports; and promote the value of increased employment of people with an intellectual disability or autism. The position is located in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Reports directly to the Employment Manager. The LMF will be the focal point to facilitate this increased employer demand and create the bridging necessary between employment service agencies and employers. This position is the link between job seekers, businesses, community employment agencies, autism and intellectual disability support organizations, and community. Building relationships within relevant stakeholders is a critical role of the position in achieving the overall outcome of the initiative, which is to create meaningful and equitable employment opportunities for job seekers with an intellectual disability or autism.

This work requires an understanding of the needs of job seekers, employers, and the full scope of how people with an intellectual disability or autism find and sustain real work in the community.

**Ready, Willing and Able (RWA)** is a national partnership of the Canadian Association for Community Living, the Autism Alliance of Canada, and their member organizations. Funded by the Government of Canada and active in 20 communities across the country, RWA is designed to increase the labour force participation of people with an intellectual disability and people on the Autism Spectrum.

**Major Duties & Responsibilities**
- Develop and/or expand partnerships with community employment agencies to ensure equitable access to hiring demand by both persons with an intellectual disability and persons on the autism spectrum.
- Engage in a variety of outreach efforts (e.g., presentations to schools, family associations etc.) to connect with job seekers on the autism spectrum or with an intellectual disability.
- Provide navigation support to job-seeking adolescents, young adults and adults with an intellectual disability or autism by connecting them to employment supports and services in their community.
- Conduct employer outreach and engagement
- Link hiring demand to qualified talent pool and build community capacity to support our job seekers.
- Build employer understanding and confidence to hire inclusively

**Education and Experience**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of Neurodiversity is required

Previous experience working with Autistic people/people with autism in community, residential or school settings is recommended, but not required
- Commitment to full inclusion for those with an intellectual disability or autism, including the right to employment and economic participation in the community.
- Knowledge of issues and barriers faced by people with intellectual disability or autism in accessing the labour market a must.
- Strong knowledge of local labour market issues and trends.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated success and experience working in a community development framework.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications and client relationship management software.

**Other Essential Requirements**:

- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Must have the ability to obtain a valid criminal record check

**Salary**:

- Rate of pay is determined by individuals experience and education
