Stratford, Canada Alzheimer Society Huron Perth Full time

The CSS Dementia Educator is responsible for the delivery of specialized dementia education and skills development training for the Community Support Services sector organizations in Huron and Perth Counties. They work in collaboration with the SouthWest CSS Dementia Educators in developing a communications plan.

**Qualification**:

- University degree/college diploma in Gerontology, Health Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in health sector public education and promotion.
- Skilled in the use of computers and related software and with an adaptability to learn new technology. Virtual reality training is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities e.g., to represent the Society at events and programs which occur outside of regular work hours.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Driver’s licence with access to a vehicle.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check screening required.

**Experience/Skills**:

- Experience working with persons living with dementia and/or their families.
- Experience conducting meetings and/or groups on a virtual platform.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Developing new relationships, partnerships within the community at large.

**Specific Job Responsibilities**:
**Education**
- Develop virtual training materials/curriculum, including on-line learning modules, for the CSS sector in conjunction with graphic design/web developer from Embodied Labs.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver hybrid model training events (virtual and face to face), including virtual reality lived experience education, to CSS providers (professional front line workers, volunteers, other staff) in Huron and Perth Counties as required and with relevant staff, to improve dementia care and awareness.
- Develop a strategy along with Alzheimer Society’s CSS Educators in the SouthWest to coordinate CSS Education throughout Huron and Perth and maintain a consistent CSS education program throughout the SouthWest area.
- Maintain a current knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and current resources; be prepared to upgrade skills and knowledge as required.
- Provide reports and updates as required.

**Communications/Public & Media Relations**
- Contribute to internal and external educational communications in conjunction with the Manager of Fund Development & Communications, as requested.
- Collaborate with CSS SouthWest Team and the Manager of Fund Development & Communications on the development of communications materials and review related Health Promotion documents before finalized for publication, as required.
- Data entry as required.

**Organizational Overview**:
The Alzheimer Society Huron Perth actively supports families and individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. We advocate for and provide support services, education, and funding for research for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

**Location**:

- Regular work schedule with flexibility divided between Huron and Perth Counties.
- Huron (Clinton) and Perth (Stratford).
- Travel within Huron and Perth Counties.
