The successful applicant will act as legal counsel in support of the day-to-day operations of Pomerleau Inc. and Pomerleau’s subsidiary Beaubois Groupe Inc. Responsibilities will include advising on and assisting Pomerleau and Beaubois’ (collectively the “Companies”) management and project teams with all manner of legal issues, including active legal proceedings, contract disputes, claims, procurement issues, and also includes handling of active litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.

**What YOU Will Do**
- Providing strategic legal advice to the Companies executive and management teams;
- Providing legal advice to project teams during the course of construction on Projects across Canada and the United States, including management and preparation of claims under project contracts;
- Providing general legal advice as required by the Companies’ operations in relation to disputes relating to procurement, environmental, employment, labour, real estate, and other areas of law;
- Managing all aspects of active litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings on the Companies’ behalf, including drafting pleadings, preparing document disclosure, conducting examinations, and running mediations, motions, and trials;
- Assisting in the preparation and implementation of corporate governance policies;
- Managing, coordinating, and collaborating with external legal counsel;
- Preparing, analyzing, and negotiating contracts on behalf of Beaubois;
- Conducting legal training seminars, and “Lunch and Learns” for Company employees; and
- Any other associated tasks relating to the operations of the Companies.

**What YOU Will Bring**
- Hold a juris doctorate, or bachelor’s degree in law, and be a member of the Law Society of Ontario or other common law Canadian jurisdiction;
- Have 5 to 7 years of experience in private practice at a law firm, or as in-house counsel, with experience in commercial litigation and contract disputes (working knowledge of the construction industry is considered an asset);
- Possess the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple files simultaneously, and perform tasks within tight timelines;
- Possess the ability to explain complex legal principles clearly and concisely in both verbal and written form;
- Possess excellent negotiation and advocacy skills;
- Demonstrate initiative, leadership, autonomy, versatility, and a team-oriented attitude;
- Have an excellent command of English, with knowledge of French being an asset; and
- Be open to business travel to various regions of Canada and the United States as may be required.
