**Iona Project**:
Metro Vancouver (“MetroVan”) is a federation of Municipalities operating under provincial legislation as a ‘regional district’ and ‘greater boards’ that deliver regional services, policy, and political leadership on behalf of its members. This is a full time two year termed position due to funding opportunities.
MetroVan is working on upgrading the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (“Iona”) which was built in 1963 and currently serves approximately 750,000 residents in the Vancouver Sewerage Area, which includes Vancouver, parts of Burnaby and Richmond, the University Endowment Lands, and UBC. This $10 billion + upgrade initiative is expected to take at least 10 years and is the largest infrastructure project in the history of Vancouver. The purpose of the upgrade is to increase treatment from what is currently primary to be tertiary wastewater treatment to improve the treated wastewater quality being discharged to the Salish Sea.
**Iona Coordinator**:
The Musqueam Iona Wastewater Treatment Plant Coordinator (Coordinator) will report to the Manager of Title and Rights and will serve as an integral part of the Title & Rights team. The role includes reviewing and assessing incoming project files related to project, disseminating information at the direction of the lead negotiator, and acting as one of the main points of contact. The Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing project-related information and coordinating with staff and the proponent. An individual with Musqueam knowledge of history and culture will be preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and participate in the project as required and/or delegated - must possess an ability to manage the project which includes, but is not limited to, coordinating resources, ensuring appropriate consultation, and reporting (ongoing and final).
- This coordination includes twice monthly meetings between the Musqueam and MetroVan teams including the creation of meeting minutes and follow through on action items from the meetings.
- Coordinate or participate in sub-group meetings related to the project in order to disseminate information for multiple departments across the organization.
- Follow up, develop responses, collect, and disseminate information.
- An important component is to maintain the cohesive committee structure of Musqueam to ensure effective project implementation and communications with the Manager.
- At the request of the Manager, or at own discretion, prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of:
a. Correspondence for management, Title and Rights Committee, and/or Chief and Council
b. Briefing materials for the Manager, Chief and Council, Committees of Council (T&R Committee), working groups, and senior management. This material may include researching issues and ensuring prepared responses are consistent with Musqueam First Nation policy and direction.
- Assist with community engagement sessions, including preparing presentation materials and newsletters.
- Regular updates to the Manager and lead negotiator on the progress of the agreements.
- Other related tasks as required.
Qualification and Skills
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful criminal record check.
Skills and Abilities
- Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of project management methods and skills.
- Strong communicator with excellent writing skills.
- Ability to be discrete, and use tact and good judgment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/project in accordance with stated deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
