**Summary**

The Hatchery Dispatcher will provide support and assistance to their team of drivers. The Hatchery Dispatcher will be required to manage time deliveries, produce monitoring reports on productivity, and communicate with customers. They will help to coordinate and optimize delivery schedules. They will work to resolve any logístical problems that arise such as traffic or other delays.

**Schedule**

The work schedule for this position is typically Monday to Friday working on average 40 hours a week. Varying hours and weekend work may be required depending on operational requirements.

**Dispatcher Duties**
- Keep accurate tracking of assignments and travel frequencies for customers.
- Ensure the timely and efficient scheduling and transport of chicks to Atlantic Poultry Inc. customers.
- Schedule pullet deliveries in conjunction with the grow teams in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
- Coordinate the trucking of hatching eggs from hatcheries to Lone Pine and onto NL, and the supply of egg packing items to the barns.
- Monitor all assigned trips and ensure the proper tracking of all chick deliveries.
- Track driver hours and ensure hours of service are maintained in conformance.
- Support the Hatchery Manager to ensure the logistics protocol is followed.
- Develop a working knowledge of the vehicles in the API fleet and an understanding of how the vehicle systems operate.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and inspections with schedule and maintenance specialist.
- Assist in emergency situations such as breakdowns.
- Participate in improvement of long-term solutions.
- Set the appointment for pick-ups and deliveries in a reasonable time window.
- Advise clients of all schedule changes and travel orders.
- Stay current with best practices as it relates.
- Follow animal welfare policies.
- Deliver healthy strong chicks to API customers and provide good communication with customers.
- Liaise between Drivers and Management.
- Support orientation of new drivers.
- Follow safety procedures.
- Additional tasks as assigned.

**Position Requirements**
- Minimum 3 years dispatching experience
- The ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Ability to problem solve
- Experience dealing with operations required to meet Federal standards an asset
- Strong commitment to Health and Safety
- Highly flexible, with strong interpersonal skills to allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word and Access
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands.
- Post-Secondary is an asset
- Experience with FleetComplete and Big Road is an asset

**Working Conditions**

The position operates indoors in an office environment where sitting for long periods of time is common.

Weekend and holiday work may be required based on operational requirements.
