The **Medical Office Assistant **performs clinical duties and provides confidential administrative support related to the operation of the health centre. The **Medical Office Assistant** delivers a high level of service to patients, other health care providers, and partners. The positionplays a key role interacting with patients, maintaining patient records, and supporting the health team in the efficient delivery of patient care. Additionally, the **Medical Office Assistant** is the “Administrator" of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System.

Preference may be given to those having knowledge of the W̱SÁNEĆ culture and traditions.

This position is covered under the collective agreement between the Tsartlip First Nation and the BCNU.

**Education and Experience**
- Medical Office Assistant diploma/certificate required; and
- Minimum 2 years Medical Office Assistant experience preferred;
- Experience working with and advocating for Indigenous people an asset;
- Experience utilizing and maintaining electronic medical records systems;
- British Columbia Health Care billing experience an asset;
- Medical transcription and terminology experience;
- Experience scheduling and coordinating appointments;
- Experience developing and preparing a variety of written reports independently and from written and verbal instructions;
- Experience working in the W̱SÁNEĆ communities an asset;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle plus a clean driver’s abstract is required;
- Valid first aid and CPR “C” certificate required;
- Clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector required.

**About the Tsartlip First Nation**

The Tsartlip First Nation is one of five communities that constitute the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. Located on the west side of the Saanich Peninsula (south east Vancouver Island), the W̱SÁNEĆ people have lived on these lands since time immemorial.

Our vision is to honour the past, while moving forward and creating opportunities for our future generations.

We have a population of 1038 registered members living both on and off Tsartlip First Nation territory.

Tsartlip 653 is comprised of Goldstream IR13, Mayne Island IR6, Senanus Island IR10 and South Saanich IR1 covering approximately 334 hectares in size and includes single family residential and leased homes, band administrations and commercial developments.
