Bowmanvillle Older Adult Association's Vision is to promote the health and happiness of older adults by enhancing their quality of life in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The Fundraising Specialist is responsible for building support for the Bowmanville Older Adult Association by developing/operationalizing yearly fundraising plan, building/maintaining donor/sponsor relationships, organizing fundraising activities and searching for new fundraising opportunities. The Fundraising Specialist reports directly to the Relationship Manager. One year contract.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**

**Fundraising and Donor Relationships**
- Develop and oversee the implementation of annual fundraising plan in collaboration with Executive Director, Relationship Manager, Event, Fundraising and Social Media Coordinator and Board
- Assists in operationalizing annual fundraising plan. Works to achieve and surpass these goals
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, donors and funding partners in collaboration with the Event, Fundraising and Social Media Coordinator
- Develop and maintain outreach strategy
- Leading the writing and development of regular donor communications including appeals, thank you letters, impact reporting and other forms of stewardship
- Achieve or exceed annual revenue targets by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting current donors/fundraisers
- Lead the planning and execution of up to two larger fundraising events, such as a Gala or Golf Tournament in collaboration with the Event, Fundraising and Social Media Coordinator and the rest of the team
- Tracking and accounting for fundraising and donation income - keeping meticulous records and providing a report to Executive Director for monthly board meetings.
- Participate on Program and Fundraising Committee. Help plan and implement fundraising ideas in conjunction with the Event, Fundraising and Social Media Coordinator
- Assist with all physical aspects related to fundraising events - including bending, lifting and standing where necessary
- Additional duties as required

**Qualifications**

Education
- Postsecondary degree/diploma in volunteer or project management, event management, human/social services or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise

Experience and Skills
- Minimum of one year’s progressive experience in fundraising, grant-writing or event planning role
- Strong project management, organizational, time management and coordination skills
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers at all levels
- Superior communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Comfortability with media and public speaking
- Shows initiative, flexibility and resourcefulness
- Team player
- Strong leadership and decision making skills
- Creative with a strong desire to raise funds
- Works well as part of a team and is also able to set individual priorities
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Thorough working knowledge of: Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Canva and Fundraising software/databases (e.g. Raiser’s Edge or Keela)
- Experience in a not-for-profit organization preferred
- Flexible with the ability to work evenings or weekends on some occasions
- Valid Ontario ‘G’ Driver’s license and vehicle available to travel throughout Durham Region
- WHMIS and CPR certified or willing to complete upon hire
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Time Commitment: 35 hours/week, 1 year Contract
