**Site HSE Specialist - Fly In / Fly Out**

Diversified Transportation is currently looking for a full-time Site HSE Specialist to join our team in Fort McMurray. Reporting to the HSE Director, this role will be responsible for providing guidance/support/supervision on a remote camp site to a variety of skilled trade employees and management on implementing our HSE safety leadership program, ensuring that company systems are constantly evolving and improving to meet or exceed company, legislated and client requirements.

Additionally, the Site HSE Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of various proactive initiatives including new employee orientations, supervisory safety training, facility inspections and HSE meetings.

**The shift for this position is 14 on / 14 off, 10 hour days worked as a split shift. Fly in / fly out with site accommodation provided.**

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Support and promote Diversified (DTL) Core Values and DTL policies and procedures
- Support the implementation of HSE initiatives and processes to build an organization-wide safety culture
- Support, communicate and educate co-workers on the Health and Safety Management System and Environmental Management System
- Support the Director in developing and meeting budgetary goals
- Support the HSE Team in all locations and endeavors
- Delivery/assistance with onsite Safety Meetings and Inspections
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes
- Assist in incident investigations for collisions, near miss review, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventative measures and effectively assist WCB cases and return to work activities

**Site Specific Requirements**:

- Establish and maintain a strong Health and Safety Management System, with focus on the following areas:

- Site Specific Hazard Assessments
- Daily FLRA’s
- Establish a workplace observation program
- Communicate the clients Life Saving Rules
- Ensure workers are Fit for Duty
- Implement controls for Environmental Management
- Ensure Learning and competency requirements are met
- Maintain the Emergency Management system and ensure regular drills
- Ensue Regulatory Compliance is monitored and report out
- Maintain a cohesive working relationship with the client
- Perform audits and Assessments as required

**Desired Qualifications**:

- An NCSO certificate, and/or CTSP certificate, and/or Health and Safety Advisory certificate, or degree/certificate in Occupational Health
- COR Audit certification training (or willing to obtain within 1 year on your own)
- Proficient in developing JHAs, Risk Matrix’s, Policies and Procedures, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Traffic Safety Act and supporting transportation regulations
- Previous experience in Health and Safety in an Industrial Industry setting
- Previous experience in the transportation industry (an asset)
- Knowledge of applicable HSE regulations, codes, practices and standards
- Valid driver's license with safe driving history
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to others and create effective customer-focused relationships at all levels
- Ability to read, interpret and communicate policies, programs and regulations
- Mobility and physical dexterity required to navigate harsh and physically demanding terrain in northern climate
