***SCOPE/PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
**Position Summary**:The Fibre Service Technician will report to the Fibre Splicing Manager and will be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving network related issues in the field. (i.e. Central Offices, POP Sites, On-Net buildings, and customer premises). This role will also bear the primary responsibility of working in and maintaining good order of our new hub site POP’s or “Neighbourhood POPs”.

REPSONSIBILITIES:

- Respond in an urgent and high priority manner to service-affecting issues dispatched.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve all network issues in the field. This may include bit not limited to equipment replacement, re-installing lines, resplicing fibres or anything it takes to restore service.
- Prepare incident reports for outages.
- Assist with escalated issues regarding customer-facing diagnosis during new circuit turn-up.
- Complete non-emergency maintenance tasks in a timely manner as dispatched
- Cross connects o Label and configure ports on the OLT
- End-to-end testing
- Complete OTDR and ruby test of circuits and ensuring they align with the company standard.
- Assist splicers when required
- Report an unsafe, poor quality, potentially service affecting, inconsistent infield conditions or workmanship to the relevant managers.

**Training and Mentoring**:

- Assist with, and participate in, cross-training to ensure up-to-date knowledge of Beanfield network equipment
- Helped identify systematic problems or shortcomings that occur repeatedly, and work with senior management to fix them.

**Administrative Duties**:

- Updating and reviewing ticket information on daily basis.
- All other duties as assigned.

**What we are looking for**:

- Prior experience splicing, testing and troubleshooting fibre optic networks is an asset.
- This position requires On-Call availability.
- Must have a valid G Driver's License.
