PHS Community Services Society is looking for a Residence Supervisor for Woodwards Community Housing in Vancouver, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 8:00AM to 8:00PM.

Located in the historic Woodwards development, this groundbreaking project integrates 125 units of low-income housing with market-rate condominiums, retail outlets, subsidized family units, shared public spaces and Simon Fraser University’s Centre for the Arts. Of these units, 25 are designated specifically for clients of the Strathcona Community Mental Health Team; the remainder are home to a diverse group of mostly long-time Downtown Eastside residents.

There are five wheelchair-accessible units in the building and every suite contains its own washroom and full kitchen, providing residents with affordable independence in a supportive living environment. This includes PHS mental health workers, clinical support, home care and a food program. There are also recreation activities, a meeting room and a garden.

Reporting directly to the Project Operations Manager, the Residence Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the facility, ensuring adherence to residence policies and procedures, supervising staff and maintaining a low-barrier philosophy, while ensuring staff and residence safety. The Residence Supervisor works closely with other staff in the project, providing training, guidance and leadership in collaboration with and under the direction of the Project Operations Manager.

**Responsibilities**

The job includes, but is not limited to, the following:

- Supervises staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback and evaluation, determining training requirements, orienting new staff, and maintaining timekeeping and attendance records. Resolves staffing problems, including calling in staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Performs intake process with residence or participants, provides orientation of the site and makes referrals to other programs as required.
- Contributes to a collaborative working relationship and communication between internal/external stakeholders to; develop, manage and evaluate participant care plans.
- Assists in the preparation of budgets for assigned programs and/or services, monitors and authorizes approved budgeted expenditures and maintains related records and reports.
- Advocates for clients by problem solving in areas such as financial assistance, accessing community resources, and obtaining volunteer placements.
- Ensures compliance with policies for medication administration and storage and ensures all medication sheets are completed and filled out correctly.
- Ensures the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the residence. Contacts outside contractors for maintenance work as directed. Ensures the residence’s inventory of supplies is maintained by performing duties such as contacting outside suppliers and following up on discrepancies.
- Responsible for the coordinating of visitors in and out of the site, maintaining lists of no-longer allowed visitors and maintaining resident’s frequent guest lists in accordance with site specific policies.
- Maintains participants administrative records; health and care plans. financial/banking, rent collection, daily shift reports and checklists.
- Reviews the log and responds to any outstanding concerns from the previous shifts, as well as deals with issues as they arise, and takes responsibility for making sure that all necessary tasks are completed throughout the day, in an organized and effective manner.
- Reviews and maintains relevant documentation such as HIFIS, internal OD tracker, resident/participant files in Arcori and other related data collection.
- Listens and responds to community concerns, questions and requests in a manner that conveys respect. Responsible for de-escalating adverse situations that arise, and escalates/reports to management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Education and experience**

Qualifications/Experience
- Must have a minimum of a diploma in a relevant area, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training,
- Must have had previous experience (two years minimum) working with marginalized populations, substance use and misuse, addictions, healthcare, and mental health,
- Must have excellent de-escalation skills,
- Must have a proven ability to deal with crisis intervention and conflict resolution,
- Must have good coping abilities/strategies,
- Must have good listening skills (non-judgmental, patient and non-controlling),
- Must have excellent communicatio
