**Reports directly to: Office Manager**

**Job Purpose**:The custodian keeps Kainai Forage clean and in working order. The custodian uses cleaning supplies and equipment to keep interior of the office building looking clean and professional. They should respond to requests quickly and with professional manner. The custodian will perform tasks routinely with guidance from management at Kainai Forage. The custodian notifies receptionist or maintenance if any major repairs are needed in office. The custodian must possess knowledge and use of cleaning equipment and able to complete tasks within a timely manner.

**Duties and Responsibilities: Custodian**

Daily Duties: Main Floor and Upstairs
- For both the main and upstairs floor, the Custodian will perform a daily cleaning program that includes:

- Sweep daily debris from all floor areas.
- Mopping all hard floor areas with disinfectant.
- Empty waste/recycle bins and dispose of properly.
- Dust photocopier, scale room area, and other areas of the office as needed.
- Wipe down hard surfaces.
- Wipe down, clean, and sanitize door handles, light switches, and baseboards.
- Sanitize, clean and wipe down toilets, sinks, mirrors, and all parts of bathrooms
- Disinfect and wipe down all hard surfaces in breakrooms/kitchen (i.e., counter tops, sinks, microwaves, tables, and refrigerators)
- Restock soap, paper towel, and toilet paper in kitchen/washrooms Other daily cleaning tasks within the office as requested by management at Kainai Forage
- Weekly for both floors:

- Sanitize/wash waste and recycle bins.
- Dusting all surfaces, including base boards, door frames, and anything accumulating dust.
- Clean glass windows on inside and outside (if possible)
- Empty, clean, and disinfect refrigerator, as well as discard any old food.
- Cleaning of offices (if approved by office occupant) upstairs and downstairs.
- Clean walls and painted surfaces.
- Dust and clean shelves, frames, pictures, wall art, etc.
- Conduct inventory check on all cleaning supplies and inform receptionist of any low supplies that will be required.
- Change lights when needed (office only)
- Other weekly cleaning tasks within the office as requested by management at Kainai Forage

**Other Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative support and back-up**
- Welcome visitors by greeting them in a professional and positive manner.
- Assist office staff as needed by answering phone calls in a professional manner and directing calls to appropriate employees, as well as taking messages for unavailable employees.
- Maintain communication with Export Administrator and Partner regarding any office issues/concerns.
- Support the organization by performing additional tasks for the office staff, management, and operations as needed and requested by management.

**Qualifications**:

- High School Diploma
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Reliable Transportation

**Other additional knowledge and abilities**:

- Punctual and reliable
- Absence requests will need to be fill-out on days missed or absence for appointment.
- Check list to be completed on daily basic
- Able to work evening and weekends, if necessary
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift objects up to thirty (30) pounds
- Professional telephone etiquette
- Organizational skills
- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to follow direction

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week

**Experience**:

- Cleaning: 3 years (preferred)
- janitorial: 3 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (required)
