Veterinary Assistant/technician

Earthbound Kids connects children to natural fun in the safe and scenic setting of the Earthbound Kids tree farm. Earthbound is seeking energetic, passionate, caring people to join our team for the 2024 season

At Earthbound, we have many furry friends for our campers to meet Our aim is to introduce the importance of caring for animals and teach children the importance of respecting animals and nature.

The Veterinary Assistant will share in the responsibility of caring of our horses, pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits, alpacas and sheep. Along with this they will help to provide age-appropriate programming for children ages 6 to 12 that allows campers to interact safely and in a meaningful way with the animals on the Earthbound farm.

**Responsibilities**:

- Daily cleaning, feeding and caring of farm animals.
- Hand-walking and grazing animals
- Cleaning wounds, assisting with minor veterinary procedures including bandaging
- Teaching children about our animals and how to properly care for animals.
- Provide imaginative, diverse, and non-repetitive programming that provides choice and allows campers to use their creativity.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the stabling areas

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 3 years experience working with animals or educational background in agriculture, animal science or veterinary technician
- Comfortable handling animals in an open setting with children
- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Experience working with children
- Riding and experience with rehabs is an asset
- Previous camp experience is an asset.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’ required;

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Veterinary Assistant: 1 year (preferred)
- horseback riding: 3 years (required)
