**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Manager, Canadian Student Recruitment the Welcome Centre & Events Coordinator is a member of the Recruitment & Admissions team which works to ensure the enrolment management goals of the university at large are met. This team will implement strategic plans to advance the position of Wilfrid Laurier University nationally and internationally as a destination for high calibre students. The Welcome Centre and Events Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating both virtual and in-person events while implementing the campus visits strategy attracting students to Laurier, ensuring that each and every experience lead by our student Ambassador Team is an exceptional one.

The Welcome Centre and Undergraduate Recruitment Events Coordinator, is responsible for overseeing Brantford Welcome Centre operations, implementing the campus visit strategy and serving as the lead multi-campus events, both in-person and virtual. The role also works in collaboration with colleagues across R&A to prepare and deploy ambassador support of cross-functional initiatives that are critical to meeting department goals. Research indicates that peer-to-peer interaction significantly influences a student’s decision to attend a university. Through the use of the Laurier Ambassador team, our aim is to deliver consistent and exceptional experiences that are true to the Laurier brand, creating a positive impact on prospective student audiences.

The incumbent must be highly knowledgeable about Laurier’s programs and services, while overseeing the Brantford ambassador team, and the coordination of undergraduate recruitment events. They prioritize effectively for themselves and teammates, and deliver high quality campus experiences. Opportunities to enhance recruitment efforts will be achieved though market research reviews, process and event-evaluations, and collaboration with team and cross campus colleagues. Significant contacts include prospective students, parents/caregivers, the high school guidance community, the Laurier community, and peers from other universities.

**Accountabilities**

**Overseeing Welcome Centre Operations and Initatives**
- Manages the day-to-day operation of the Brantford Welcome Centre, which annually serves over 5,000 guests including prospective students, influencers (parents, guidance counsellors, etc.), the on-campus community, and the surrounding Brantford community;
- Ensures the proper control of expenditures for the Welcome Centre operation, including staffing and events. Provides input and advice with respect to establishing annual budgets;
- Maintains the Welcome Centre space on the Brantford Campus to ensure a positive first-impression for guests with a focus on the user experience, which includes fostering a safe and welcoming space for diverse audiences. The Welcome Centre is also the primary location for management of guest amenities and promotional material distribution, for prospective audiences;
- Responsible for having an extensive knowledge of Laurier’s programs, services, and departments to professionally advise guests;
- Creates and contributes to a culture of exceptional service to ensure guests receive the information they need to make key decisions promptly and with a personal touch;
