**Corporate Controller**

**Position**: Corporate Controller

**Location**: Vancouver, BC

Bast Fibre Technologies produces technical natural fibres that make it possible to replace plastic in many consumer products. Our sero hemp and linen fibres enable manufacturers to create natural consumer products with a circular, soil-to-soil lifecycle. Together with our partners, we are making a difference in the battle against plastic pollution.

The driving force behind our success is our collaborative international team who work across North America and Europe, with corporate offices in Victoria, Canada, and manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Germany. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Corporate Controller who will report to the Vice President of Finance, playing a key role in directing the work of other accounting and finance staff to support the company’s day-to-day operations.

The Corporate Controller will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and detailed financial reporting across our rapidly growing company in support of the initiatives set out by the Vice President of Finance.

This is an in-office position in our Victoria, BC office or remotely in the lower mainland and may require occasional business-related travel.

**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- Global consolidation process of multiple legal entities/currencies, including, monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and for monthly financial close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Overseeing the entire corporate reporting process for BFT with a focus on enhancing the internal reporting function.
- Maintaining appropriate Internal controls throughout the division
- Continuously improves accounting processes and procedures to optimize financial performance.
- Integrate multi-national and functional corporate budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Lead and drive sound management practice and governance across the organization.
- Coordinates the company’s accounting activities across multiple locations.
- Direct and supervise the work of assigned accounting staff.
- Lead quarterly physical inventory and production reviews with the manufacturing team.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships.
- Direct preparation of information needed for the of quarterly and annual reports in accordance with international financial reporting standards.
- Support implementation of Microsoft Dynamics ERP software for finance and accounting functions.
- Collaborates with external auditors to provide information needed for the annual audit.
- Take a direct lead in designing the emerging corporate financial structure and operation as the business grows to encompass a greater scope of activities.
- You will also support good business practice as you will:

- Agree to comply with all signatory limits as communicated by the finance function on behalf of the company.
- Comply with all Corporate Policies, rules, and regulations as set out and communicated by the company pursuant to good business practice.
- Ensure relevant compliance activities.
- Support policy and practice development
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- University degree and Professional designation (CA /CPA/CGA) is required to be considered for this position.
- Experience in financial systems implementation a plus as well as a background in a multi-national environment is preferred.
- They will be expected to have a proactive relationship with the company’s management team and other stakeholders and advisers.
- Evidence of superior problem-solving skills.
- A track record of technical and financial analysis, and project management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics strongly preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and financial regulations with financial planning and analysis experience, cash flow management skills, as well as strong familiarity designing and maintaining appropriate & effective internal controls.
- Must have the ability to work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with peers, management and 3rdparties.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
