- Serving Maritime Canada, the Faculty of Medicine enables excellence in health care through education and research programs in partnership with government, health authorities and health care providers. The Office of Community Partnerships and Global Health takes a collaborative approach to build leadership within the Dalhousie community to advance diversity, equity, community engagement, global health education and international partnerships. Reporting to the Director, Office of Community Partnerships and Global Health, the Manager, Promoting Leadership in Health for African Nova Scotians, provides leadership in the design, development, oversight, implementation and evaluation of the Promoting Leadership in Health for African Nova Scotians (PLANS) program in the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health.**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement various programs for careers in health and medicine with the African Nova Scotian community including elementary, junior and senior high schools.
- Design and monitor mentorship programs for ANS medical students.
- Maintain communication with enrolled medical students on relevant information - academic enrichment opportunities, scholarship/bursary information, admissions information.
- Work with the African Nova Scotia Advisory Committee to develop and implement strategies to attract both African Nova Scotian students and faculty.
- Provide insight on matters related to African Nova Scotian students for members of Faculty of Medicine’s admission committees, interview panels and support staff.
- Develop annual work plans, evaluation metrics, communication strategies and** **annual reports** **for funders of the PLANS programs.
**Note**-
Some evening and weekend hours are occasionally required.
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree plus a minimum of five years’ experience in a related field such as coordinating programs (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Knowledge of the issues and concerns facing African Nova Scotian communities with regards to access to post-secondary education.
- Ability to lead groups and work as part of a team, prioritize work and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
