**Area of Assignment**:Maintenance

**Basic Function and Scope**:
The plumber reports to the Director - Capital Planning and Facilities and will install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures. The Plumber reads blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems. The Plumber will then plan, install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls. These piping systems may be sued to transport water, waste, gases or hot liquids.

Plumbers work in cooperation with other trades and labourers to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of the project. Providing adequate services will ensure that all water supply networks and waste and drainage systems are installed, repaired and maintained to meet all standards of building codes and safety.

**Hours of Work**: Monday to Friday days, with on-call responsibilities

**Pay Rate**: Will be in accordance with the S.E.I.U. Local 1, Canada Service Workers Collective Agreement.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Journeyman Certification in Plumbing from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution;
- Current registration as a Journeyperson from an accredited institution.

**Experience**:

- Trades experience in projects and renovations, preferred.

**Required Skills**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures installation and maintenance.
- Computerskills including the ability to operate computerized spreadsheet, database and word processing, programs at a proficient level.
- Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.
- Ability to organize work assignments, meet deadlines and work independently.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other trades.

**Physical Requirements**:

- The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.

**Salary**: $27.02-$28.67 per hour
