**LINC Instructor**

**(Part-time Contract)**

Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status.

We are searching for a part-time LINC Instructor to provide information, knowledge and understanding of the community and culture while teaching Canadian language benchmarks/terms daily to immigrants, newcomers and refugees through educational software engagements along with various other methods.

**What you will be doing**:
Teach a daily class in compliance with Canadian Language Benchmarks

Design and provide professional, appropriate and motivational short and long-term lesson plans consistent with accepted teaching methods and the needs and level of the class

Create lesson plans that are outcome based and have identified measurement processes

Maintain clear and accurate records of students’ achievements and outcomes

Incorporate a variety of learning materials into lesson plans to meet different learning styles

Orient students to portfolios as a learning and assessment tool (PBLA)

Develop and maintain an anti-bias classroom atmosphere where participants feel welcome and interested in learning

Combine classroom teaching with computer instruction; ESL educational software

Ensure ongoing attendance and active participation of learners each day

Collaborate with other CCS staff to ensure LINC participants have access to the full suite of available settlement services

Complete administrative duties such as client registration and orientation, attendance records, monthly reports and statistical information as required

Perform other related duties as assigned

**What are we looking for?**

TESL Certificate from a recognized institution and ongoing membership with TESL Ontario

Previous successful experience (minimum 3 years) teaching ESL or LINC at various levels

Excellent lesson planning skills

Demonstrated experience working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds

Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze, synthesize and disseminate pedagogical information

Strong interpersonal skills and awareness of newcomer issues

Working knowledge of Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)

Ability to work as a team with LINC Instructors and Lead Instructor

Ability to work with mínimal supervision

**Location**:1477 Mississauga Valley Blvd., Mississauga, ON, L5A 3Y4

**Class Level**: Literacy-CLB 1

**Compensation**:$37.55 to $41.79 based on experience

**Hours of work**:3 hours per day, 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday
