**Job Purpose**

Saulteau First Nations is seeking to employ a permanent Junior Land Guardian in our traditional territory. The Nation is implementing management and research in support of the Caribou Partnership Agreement; an agreement between the two Nations, British Columbia, and Canada. The Treaty Rights and Environmental Protection department has initiated the program as part of an ongoing objective to help better manage and monitor our lands. Guardians and the program are directed by the visions and objectives outlined in the Saulteau First Nations Guardian Program Charter.

Land Guardian guiding principles and roles include stewardship and monitoring of Klinse-za Park, Moberly and Murray Watershed, Peace Moberly Tract and Area of Critical Community Interest. The Treaty Rights and Environmental Protection Manager and team help direct the guardian program supervisor to monitor various studies ongoing these year-round tasks include scientific data collection, entry, and analysis; community, youth, and elder engagement; working within community, with external organizations, other First Nations guardian programs, universities, and governmental agencies.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**General Guardian Duties**
- Monitoring Klinse-za Park, Moberly and Murray Watershed, Peace Moberly Tract and Area of Critical Community Interest
- Specie Inventory studies
- Water quality and quantity sampling
- Assist with the caribou recovery project and associated restoration work
- Community, youth, and elder engagement and culture and language sharing
- Working with external organizations such as universities and governmental agencies
- Scientific data collection, management, and analysis
- Participate in the Treaty 8 Guardian Alliance
- Participate in all SFN sponsored community events as required.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**
- Valid BC driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract
- Level 1 First Aid or higher
- PAL or willing to obtain
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Knowledge of safety legislation and best practices
- Comfortable riding in helicopters
- Ability to safely operate UTVs and snowmobiles
- Comfortable working outdoors in remote locations
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs

**Work Conditions**
- Work is performed primarily during the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday
- Work is performed within the SFN community as well as the following worksites:

- Klinse-za Park
- Moberly and Murray Watershed
- Peace Moberly Tract
- Area of Critical Community Interest

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $21.60-$27.04 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
