The Head Baker is responsible for overseeing the daily production of breads, cakes, and other baked goods, ensuring consistency in quality, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The Head Baker will be expected to lead, train and mentor the baking team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

- Oversee the daily production of breads, cakes, and other baked goods.
- Ensure all products meet Langdon Hall standards for quality, presentation, and taste.
- Manage the baking schedule to ensure timely production and delivery.
- Create and develop new recipes with the Executive Chefs to expand product offerings.
- Modify existing recipes to improve taste, texture, and appearance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate them into the menu.
- Lead, train, and mentor the baking team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure all team members are meeting performance standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage inventory of baking supplies and ingredients, ensuring optimal stock levels.
- Work with chefs to source high-quality ingredients at the best possible prices.
- Regularly inspect baking equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Report any damages or malfunctioning equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times.
- Implement and enforce food safety procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients.
- Ensure the bakery complies with all health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required**
- Minimum 5 years in a similar role
- Must have a deep knowledge of baking skills
- Must have excellent verbal communication and leadership skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task while remaining focused on the goal
- Must be detail oriented
- Must have adequate upper body strength for heavy lifting and strong back and leg muscles for hours of standing, bending and walking
- Ability to communicate, understand, empathize, work with and be tolerant of peers and supervisors
- Ability to read, write, communicate and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization
- Effective time management skills to organize and prioritize workload

**Work Conditions and Physical Requirements**
- Fast paced environment - must be able to work under pressure and be able to multitask.
- Physically fit, ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Stand for extended periods
- Able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive attitude
- Strong organizational skills

**Must have own transportation and be able to legally work in Canada.**

Pay: $24.65 per hour
