OMS Family Care Services Inc. is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Child and Youth Care Workers for full-time and part-time opportunities in Edmonton, AB. As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you will play a pivotal role in providing direct care, support, and guidance to children and youth within a residential setting. Your commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment will contribute to the overall well-being and development of the individuals we support.

Reporting to the Team Lead, some of the responsibilities of the Child and Youth Care workers includes:

- Assist clients with the development and maintenance of problem-solving skills
- Activity planning that involves clients in groups to meet the recreational, educational or therapeutic needs
- Counseling skills that utilize problem-solving, de-escalation, goal-setting and preventative interventions with clients in either a 1:1 or group scenario
- Documentation of daily activities, themes and follow-through of the children and youth
- Monthly documentation related to clients including service planning, reviews, plans, etc.
- Day-to-day service delivery components including, but not limited to, medication administration, client orientation, scheduling of wellness-related appointments, transportation (if qualified)
- Care of the program environment and clients including cleaning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, etc.
- Work collaboratively with other staff
- Providing all clients with a sense of safety, acceptance and nurturance
- Mitigation of overall organizational (including facilities, employees, and clients) risk as per the Risk Management Plan.
- **Qualifications and Requirements**:_
- **Education/ Certification/ Training**_
- Human services degree or diploma (and/or competency-based equivalencies);
- Minimum of 6 months related experience
- 2 - 3 years related front-line experience is considered an asset
- Current criminal (with vulnerable sector search) and current intervention record checks;
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level CPR + AED
- Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 3 months (This can be applied for during the interview process)
- Children Services Intervention Record Check within the last 3 months (This can be applied for during the interview process)
- Suicide Prevention
- Mental Health First Aid
- **Knowledge and Skills**_
- Strong interpersonal skills that bridge the distance with individuals that may have a resistance to relationships, different morals/values and alternative lifestyle choices
- Non-judgmental manner
- Strong personal boundaries
- Demonstrates good writing and communication skills
- Experience in working with diverse cultural and religious communities
- Understanding of Client-Centered Theory, the Circle of Courage model and Trauma Informed philosophies
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, beliefs, and traditions

Expected hours: 10 - 44 per week

- Every Weekend
- Monday to Friday
