Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Research and Development, the Coordinator, Research and Development (R&D) is responsible for supporting the safe execution of water quality management R&D projects on and around active mine sites. You will collaborate with internal partners to safely implement research programs as a part of Teck’s overall commitment to the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can coordinate and manage field programs and contractors, ensuring their safety and compliance with procedures. Someone who is self motivated, can build relationships and work collaboratively with technical teams and site personnel. You will have strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with strong capacities for organization and practical problem-solving in a fast-paced, field environment.

**Responsibilities**:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Support, plan and coordinate the field execution of small-scale R&D projects, mainly during the field-testing pilot phase
- Provide technical, administrative, and project management support for field work to the R&D team. Support internal team members to adhere to key timelines and deliverables
- Supervise and coordinate contractors, ensuring that work is being conducted safely and in accordance with project scope
- Collect water and/or solid samples, follow chain of custody protocols and undertake field management of R&D instrumentation
- Compile, review and manage R&D data and produce progress reports
- Collaborate with Operations, Environment and Social Responsibility, and internal Teck partners to execute R&D projects in the field to support the development of technologies that can be relied on to improve water quality
**Qualifications**:
- Engineering or Science Diploma in civil, chemical, geological, mining, environmental or a related field
- Minimum two years of relevant industry experience; proven experience in the field in an industrial or mining environment would be an asset
