**Job Synopsis**
- MCC is the relief, development and peace agency of the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in North America. MCCS staff reflect MCC’s mission, beliefs and values in the workplace and in interactions with individuals, agencies and businesses in the broader community**.**

This role requires 10 weeks of 0.8 FTE (30 hours/week) between June 17th and August 23rd, 2024.

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Assignment narrative**:
This person will work with the Community Development team at MCC Saskatchewan. This role supports the Community Development Coordinator in visioning and implementing summer youth programs which include weekly drop-in sessions and a week-long day camp. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will join the MCCS staff team to engage the youth and young adult population in exploring issues related to peace and justice.
In the summer months, this person will co-direct a week-long peace camp for 10 - 15 youth. Each year this camp focuses on peace and reconciliation through building bridges between settler, Indigenous, and newcomer youth. The camp puts an emphasis on living in peace and harmony within community, and with our environment. The individual in this role will also oversee other youth focused programs in Meadowgreen for children and youth.

**Key Responsibilties**

**General Duties**:

- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting MCC’s values to those with whom he/she interacts including staff, volunteers and the local community.
- Model nonviolent peacemaking in the workplace and community through respectful interactions and work relationships.
- General office work (telephone, filing, computer work, photocopying, etc.) required for program management.
- Write blog posts and other communication materials to communicate with the broader MCCS constituency.

**Specific Duties**:

- **Assist in Managing Meadowgreen Programs**
- Co-lead weekly summer programming in the Meadowgreen neighbourhood.
- Work alongside the Coordinator and volunteers to offer support, ideas, and leadership.
- Create opportunities for special events and summer field trips.
- Offer educational activities to enhance summer programs.
- Assist in planning community events.
- Co-direct a day camp for youth ages 10-15 in August.
- Develop promotional material and liaise with community partners to advertise.
- Keep records of purchasing supplies and retain receipts.
- Recruit volunteers and empower existing volunteers to participate.
- Recruit participants and process registrations.
- Plan and implement a healthy nutrition plan.
- Develop content/curriculum.
- **Raise Awareness of **MCC with youth and young adults in Saskatchewan**
- Regularly communicate with youth and young adult groups, individuals, and relevant church conference leadership to promote MCCS programs and volunteer opportunities, sometimes using media tools.
- Develop an understanding of issues surrounding urban poverty, newcomers to Canada, creation care, peace and justice.
- **Program Assistance**
- Provide assistance to additional programming within the MCC Program office.
- Receive mentorship from MCCS staff in local community development work.
- General administrative tasks that support the broader work of MCCS.
- Keep track of budgeting and finance information for programs.
