Anishnabeg Outreach is an incorporated non-profit organization guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. We work primarily with the non-profit sector and are guided by a clear mission and set of values. We provide Aboriginal people with access to culturally appropriate services and strive to support individuals with direction and assistance to overcome barriers. We encourage individual exploration of avenues that will lead to self-sufficiency and success.

To help First Nations, Metis and Inuit by creating a sustainable and comprehensive suite of centralized wrap around services for urban FNMI and to establish Anishnabeg Outreach as an innovative hub/heart of best practices for economic development, training and employment on reserves.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Complete intakes/interviews with clients to obtain employment history, educational background, career goals etc. and to assess their employment related needs
- Ability to work well within Indigenous and diverse communities and organizations, An understanding and commitment to the needs, barriers, and goals of these communities
- Identify barriers to employment and assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies
- Recommend, plan, and develop program initiatives based on issues, concerns, gaps in skill development and barriers shared by clientele
- Conduct Workshops required/ needed by Visitors/Clients
- (Resume Writing, Cover Letters, Mock Interviews. Linked in, Interview Skills etc...)
- Assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews through Resources and Information Job Search workshops
- Support clients in accessing interventions through Employment Ontario and Apatisiwin programs/interventions.
- Assist clients in determining employment support needs and releasing support funds to clients
- Identify Job placement needs and refer clients to incentive and no incentive work placement assistance (volunteer, job test and hire, full time or part time work experience and on-the-job training)
- Maintain file case notes and appropriate documentation regarding clients’ progress and follow up
- Enter accurate client data into designated reporting computer systems and updates as needed
- Attend networking events and represent Anishnabeg Outreach on community committees
- Conduct cold calls to potential employers explaining the benefits and employment support services provided to employers; including addressing employer’s special needs
- Conduct outreach to clients and employers and the community to promote program services
- Familiar with community social services networks and knowledge of Community programs and supports
- Knowledge of the local labour market is essential; knowledge of broader labour market conditions and how to obtain information is also necessary
- Ensure confidentiality of all matters relating to clients, community and the business of Anishnabeg Outreach
- Adherence to Code of Ethics, Conflict of Interest, and all Anishnabeg Outreach policies and practices
- Will travel within or outside of regular working hours to meetings and community events, training and seminars or to other office locations within Kitchener and Guelph
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
- Completed post - secondary education from a recognized Institution or its equivalent. (CDP, JD an asset)
- Counselling or equivalent work experience working with individuals facing multiple barriers to employment, or 1-3 years’ experience in related duties and responsibilities
- Solid knowledge of the Canadian labour market, Canadian workplace practices, job search strategies and techniques
- Superior oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must be Proficient in MS Office Applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and internet
- Fully licensed G driver with access to vehicle is an asset
- Working knowledge of CaMS an asset
**Conditions of Employment**:
- Will be required to travel within or outside of regular working hours to meetings and community events, training and seminars.
- Will be required to travel to both office locations (Kitchener and Guelph).
- Exposure to a wide variety of personality types and needs
