**Position**:Permanent Full Time Cook Position

**Schedule**: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week; shift 7:30am-3:30pm

**Start Date**: May 1, 2023

Our organization provides ongoing professional learning throughout the year for our employees. We access the many resources available in our community. We strive to access resources from the international community to encourage deeper and more critical thinking about how young children learn best. We hope to share our learning and understandings with the families enrolled at our centre through regular communication, educational materials and learning workshops.

The Dietary Planner will be responsible for cooking for 57 children, along with any educators, students, and volunteers working in the program. This position will be responsible for maintaining the kitchen area.

**Qualifications**:
1.) Culinary Management Diploma or a post secondary degree in a related field

2.) Safe Food Handler’s certification from public health.

3.) Standard First Aid Certification

4.) Has a passion for continued learning and the desire to learn along side children

**Responsibilities**: Will include, but will not be limited to the following:
2.) Support the Executive Director with menu creation, in accordance with the Canada Food Guide.

3.) Be responsible for food preparation while adhering to all food allergies and dietary restrictions. Ensure all food allergies and dietary restrictions are posted in the cooking area.

5.) Be responsible for the maintaining a healthy and safe kitchen environment by ensuring dishes are cleaned using the high temperature sanitizer, ensuring floors are clean and dry, by properly sanitizing all counters, appliances, and work surfaces, and by ensuring all necessary information is posted for reference.

6.) Be responsible for proper food storage.

7.) Be responsible for recording food and fridge temperatures daily and maintaining records for the appropriate period of time.

8.) Be responsible for the ordering of food and/or shopping for groceries for the organization.

10.) Be confident in cooking and baking in large quantities, while maintaining health and safety regulations in accordance with public health.

**ORIENTATION & TRAINING**:

- Safe Food Handler’s Certification Training
- Standard First Aid Certification

**SUPPORT, SUPERVISION, & EVALUATION**:
Supervision and collaboration will be offered by the Executive Director. In their absence, a Designate will be provided to ensure continuity of support.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.30-$21.10 per hour
