**ABOUT THE VICTORIA CHILDREN’S CHOIR**

The Victoria Children’s Choir (VCC) has a 22-year history of success as a cultural organization that aspires to artistic excellence through choral music and music education. We are proud of our diverse and ever-changing repertoire and the exposure we provide our choristers to a wide range of styles. The VCC is regularly called upon to partner with high calibre professional organizations, such as Pacific Opera Victoria and the Victoria Symphony, and we are proud of the collaborations we have participated in on the regional, national and international stage.

With an appreciation for choral tradition, a strong emphasis on developing healthy vocal technique, and a proven ability to achieve excellence in sound, the Choir supports choristers dedicated to nurturing and honing their vocal talents and collaborative ensemble skills. Currently there are over 150 choristers in four choral ensembles, ranging from 7 to 20 years old. Backed by a highly respected artistic team, and renowned for delivering professional quality performances, the VCC is celebrated as one of the premier children’s choirs in Canada.

As we begin our 23rd season in September, we are recruiting Choir Managers to support the following choirs: the Recital Choir (10-12 years), the Concert Choir (12-17 years), and the Youth Ensemble (17-21 years).

The Choir Manager positions are part-time contract positions from September 2023 - June 2024.

The annual stipend offered to support these roles is $6500 CAD for the Concert Choir, $4000 CAD for the Recital Choir and $2500 CAD for the Youth Ensemble.

Choir Managers will:

- Attend all choir rehearsals, choir performances, staff and parent meetings;
- Manage the administrative, budgetary, and scheduling tasks related to their choir;
- Manage financial transactions with families related to uniforms, concert tickets and fundraising;
- Ensure clear and timely communication with choir families and VCC staff throughout the season;
- Update registration and online information for their choir;
- Secure parent chaperones when needed for events, camps and performances;
- Coordinate two 2-night camps including food, activities, transportation etc. (Concert Coir only);
- Coordinate one overnight camp including food, activities, transportation etc. (Recital Coir only);
- Create and maintain a safe, enjoyable and positive environment for the choristers at choir events;
- Possess a current Emergency First Aid & CPR C/AED certification;
- Contribute to the organization's artistic vision and evaluation in collaboration with the entire artistic and administrative team of the VCC.

Recital Choir: Tuesdays 4:00 - 6:00pm at St. John the Divine Church
(10-12 years)

Concert Choir: Tuesdays 5:00-7:00pm at Pacific Opera Victoria
(12-17 years) Fridays 4:15-6:15pm at St. George’s Church

Youth Ensemble: Fridays 6:30 - 8:00pm at St. George’s Church
(17-21 years)

Our regular season begins on Friday, September 8, 2023 and concludes on Friday, June 7,
2024.

June 26 - 30 Pacific International Choral Festival, Eugene Oregon (Concert Choir only)
- Please note: The VCC is willing to consider one person for both the Concert Choir and Youth Ensemble Manager positions._

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 2-4 per week

**Salary**: $2,500.00-$6,500.00 per year
