CCOC is looking to fill a critical role with a dynamic, safety and detail
- oriented **Fire Safety and Inspections Technician**, who will play an essential role in ensuring the safety of our tenants by helping keep our buildings safe.

**What you would be responsible for**:

- Performs mandated fire safety inspections, property examinations and completes all required documentation and record keeping.
- Carries out field audits and ensures performance of the contractors and legal compliance.
- Performs detailed regular unit inspections, documenting conditions within, and recommending actions when required including annual inspections of smoke detectors and fire separation.
- Carries out small repairs where required including adjusting self closing mechanisms, replacing smoke/CO detectors and replacing fire extinguishers.
- Trains and coaches maintenance staff to cover off Technicians duties during periods of absence and ensures continuity of administration is maintained.
- Alerts, and collaborates with stakeholders, required where health & safety, structural integrity, habitability or other serious maintenance issues are uncovered.

You will possess a working knowledge of building systems and has experience with high, mid, and low-rise multi-residential properties. Experience carrying out building or fire inspections, resetting fire panels, and conducting fire equipment testing are considered assets.

Attention to detail and a commitment to complete and thorough record keeping are essential skills required to be successful in role.

**Compensation**:Starting between $ 48,327 and 56,715, with a maximum compensation of $65,103 plus benefits, including OMERS pension

**Fire Safety and Inspection Technician**

**Reports To: Manager, Building Standards**
**Department: Facilities Management**
**Summary**
The Fire Safety and Inspections Technician undertakes inspections of all CCOC properties including regular Fire Safety Inspections, Building Audit Inspections for the creation of
KPIs, Quality Standards (curb appeal), and annual inspections. The Technician plays a vital role in managing life safety elements of building management and is expected to act as the last line of defence in ensuring safety compliance, acting diligently, and acting with integrity. The Technician identifies, reports, assists in the rectification of physical or administrative concerns, creates work orders, requests purchase orders, checks completion and properly records outcomes.

**Responsibilities**
1. Provides support to the Building Standards Manager and Director of Facilities

Management and collaborates with the Capital Projects Manager and Operations
Managers by:

- Performs mandated periodic fire safety inspections, completes all required documentation and record updating whilst maintaining a fixed schedule and strict adherence to deadlines for both fieldwork and deliverables.
- Carries out field audits and ensures performance of the contractors and legal compliance.
- Provides audit reports monthly for all assigned buildings.
- Performs detailed regular unit inspections, documenting conditions within, and recommending actions when required including annual inspections of smoke detectors and fire separation.
- Performs detailed regular property examinations including (but not limited to) common areas, structural components, habitability systems, building envelope, and general building standards.
- Generates KPI’s (key performance indicator reports) based on field inspections and ensures a high standard of presentation in all buildings.
- Performs and documents inspections using specialized software, diagnostic equipment, and anonymized photos.

Carries out small repairs where required including adjusting self closing mechanisms, replacing smoke/CO detectors, and replacing fire extinguishers.
