- **regular, full-time Wellness and Disability Management Coordinator. **This position coordinates activities throughout the lifecycle of short-term disability, long-term disability and WorkSafe BC (WSBC) claims from submission to conclusion. Supporting the Specialist, Disability Management and the Advisor, Benefits and Wellness, organizes, coordinates and maintains administrative functions related to disability case management, wellness initiatives and benefits support. Provides front line advisory services on case management and return-to-work matters.**Duties & Responsibilities**

- Supports disability case management by providing coordination of activities throughout the lifecycle of short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD) and WorkSafe BC (WSBC) claims from submission to conclusion. Provides monitoring of claims activities and communicates with relevant internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Establishes and maintains familiarity with each case, maintaining awareness of the Specialist, Disability Management’s goals and objectives, establishing priorities and flagging items requiring immediate attention. Ensures collective agreement and benefits contract terms are applied and appropriate follow-up and/or actions are taken. Consults with HR Business Partners on claims with special circumstances.
- Provides first-level advisory services on rehabilitation assessments and return-to-work case management. Conducts meetings with internal and external stakeholders to investigate and support the assessments and return-to-work plans. Escalates complex cases.
- Handles inquiries from WorkSafe BC, third-party lawyers, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) and other external parties related to employees’ cases.
Ensures all appropriate payroll changes are processed for WSBC, STD, LTD, and rehabilitative return-to-work initiatives while employees are on STD, LTD and WSBC return-to-work programs.
- Liaises with LTD provider, WSBC, ICBC, Supervisors and Attendance Keepers on an ongoing basis on the administration and tracking of sick leave case management.
- Provides employees and managers with general benefits information in relation to sick leave and attendance management.
- Organizes, coordinates, and maintains all administrative functions relating to sick leave, attendance, accommodations and case management, including cost of living payments for employees on LTD, correspondence, creating documents and metrics reports, and tracking and maintenance of electronic and paper records.
- Supports the Institute’s wellness initiatives by participating in the setting of the annual wellness plan, setting up, promoting, and organizing the online/in person wellness sessions and providing technical and admin support with registration, attendance and troubleshooting.
- Coordinates the Pension Corporation’s pension seminars and provides administrative support.
- Coordinates benefits enrolment activities including providing relevant plan information, administration of forms and cards and liaising with service providers to follow up on issues.
Participates in Benefits Audits and reports, as needed.
- Works with other members of the Total Compensation team, and collaborates with other HR functions to support effective delivery of programs and services and ensure others are alerted to emerging issues.
- Participates as a member of various task teams, committees and initiatives, providing input regarding HR coordination of area of expertise and administrative support such as taking minutes, preparing and providing agendas and backup materials including statistical data, and taking appropriate follow up actions, as needed.
- Participates in the maintenance and streamlining of administrative procedures to support HR operational improvements. Conducts research assignments to support procedural improvements.
**Qualifications**
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Completion of Grade 12 plus two years of post-secondary education in a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience, including 1 year in a unionized environment.
- Basic knowledge of the concepts, theories, practices and techniques of disability management, including case management, attendance awareness and return to work programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, in order to provide clear explanations of policy, procedure, and other factual information.
- Ability to use tact and discretion when communicating, discussing and delivering sensitive matters.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and exercise judgement, tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Solid analytical skills with ability to identify the root cause of administrative and/or calculation problems and take action to resolve.
