Program: Pregnancy To Parenting Children’s Program

Hours of Work: Thursday mornings, Shelldale Clinic 9:30AM -11:30PM

**Status: Ongoing, Part-time**

**Principal Responsibilities**

(Note: The following describes typical responsibilities associated with the job. From time to time, other duties and tasks of similar nature and complexity may be assigned to meet organization needs and/or provide development opportunities for the incumbent.)
- Plans, prepares and implements program activities and learning areas
- Ensures the rooms are properly set up for each session
- Ensure documentation is completed including: attendance records, encountering forms, children’s information forms, privacy forms, and incident reports
- Maintains a safe, positive, enriching environment for children through play and developmentally appropriate activities
- Communicates with parents as needed about issues relevant to their child (i.e., children’s behaviors, information about resources, referring to other services, etc.)
- Provides guidance, encouragement and support to volunteers and student placements
- Role models positive child-adult interactions during group sessions
- Ensures program space is cleaned up after each session
- Communicates with the supervisor re Program issues, families needing referrals, concerns
- Punctuality and appropriate casual attire is expected

**Working Environment**
- Noise levels may be moderate to high
- Moderate to high stress for intermittent periods depending on number and nature of children present
- Multi-task pressures intermittently during course of program

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
- Experience working with groups of children and parents
- Understand need for confidentiality in dealings with clients
- Effective communication and listening skills with both children and adults
- Highly motivated and energetic, reliable and committed

**Required Qualifications**
- RECE preferred but not required
- At least two years’ relevant experience and a working knowledge of child development and community resources for children and families
- Experience working with groups of children and parents
- Understand need for confidentiality in dealings with clients
- Effective communication and listening skills with both children and adults
- Highly motivated and energetic, reliable and committed
