Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is Calgary’s second largest tertiary care site. Located in the city’s Southwest, it provides acute, outpatient, critical care, surgical, medical, neonatal intensive care, mental health, seniors, women’s and emergency health services. The facility is home to two units dedicated to the Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone. Each year, RGH sees approximately 47,000 Medical Outpatients. We are seeking an exceptional Diagnostic Sonographer II to fill the permanent position of supervisor with the Echocardiography department. The RGH echo lab utilizes new, state of the art ultrasound technology to provide high quality diagnostics for both inpatients and outpatients. In collaboration with the Management Team, you will be accountable for daily operations of the RGH Echo department in support of the vision, mission and values of Alberta Health Services. Duties include but are not limited to: coordinating staffing and clinical work, facilitating patient flow and quality care, identifying team development and educational opportunities, assisting with quality improvement initiatives and facilitating change management as identified by and in collaboration with both the Management Team and the Clinical Nurse Educator, and overseeing unit materials and supplies. The supervisor will be responsible for leading unit-based projects and must have experience with supporting/leading organizational change initiatives.

**Description**:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer II, you will coordinate the daily operations of the service area. This includes organizing and coordinating all technical and daily work activities for your team of Diagnostic Sonographer Is and other health care providers, ensuring that ultrasound services are available and operating at an optimum level. In addition, you will handle patient and staff complaints and problems related to services, maintain quality assurance and quality control programs for the area, assist in research, development, maintenance and evaluation of Sonography programs and services and assist in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum 3 years’ experience. Experience and ability to engage others and achieve results, and to promote and lead change within a team; Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Strong leadership, coaching, critical thinking and decision-making abilities required; Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment where effective organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills are required. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment with long periods of standing, pulling and pushing stretchers, transferring patients; and where constant walking, lifting and bending are required. Pediatric experience. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care to patients and optimal service delivery for Cardiac Sciences and RGH. Ability to complete timely examinations and procedures in accordance within guidelines; Experience with engaging patients from a patient and family centered care perspective, answering questions and providing education as required. Ability and experience working with external educational body to educate diagnostic sonography students. Must be able to work on-call. Experience performing Transesophageal Echocardiograms.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
