**Position**: Assistant Educator - Before & After School program

**Reports To**: School Age Administrator

**Position Purpose**: The Assistant Educator will demonstrate competence and dedication to the development of programs and to the care and education of school aged children during their out of school hours. All aspects of the Assistant Educator position will be performed while working within the framework of the vision, mission and value statements and the policies and procedures of Milestones Children’s Centre, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual and How _Does _Learning Happen?.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Milestones' Policies and Procedures.
- Work as part of a team and share responsibilities with others to develop and implement program plans which are developmentally appropriate and inclusive of all children.
- Implement a variety of positive and consistent approaches towards behaviour guidance which are consistent with the policies, practices and philosophy of MCC.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the position through attendance, punctuality and enthusiasm for work.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 18 years of age (licensing requirement under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014)
- Proven experience and genuine enjoyment working with children ages 4-12
- Own transportation
- Reliable, outgoing team member
- Criminal Reference Check (vulnerable sector) within the last 6 months
- Standard First Aid & Infant/Child CPR
- up-to-date MMR and tetanus immunizations
- Minimum education requirement: completion of Secondary School
- RECE, CYW/CYC, Recreation and Leisure Services, Bachelor of Education preferred

**Hours**:

- Monday - Friday
- split shift: 7:30 am - 9:15 am & 3:15 pm - 5:00 pm
- 1 staff meeting per month between shifts & additional prep time as well as professional learning opportunities

**Additional hours**:

- up to 8 hours/day may be available during non-instructional days (PD days, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Camp). Supply opportunities at the Children’s Centre are also available on a casual basis during non-contract hours.

**Start/End Date**:
Contract dates: ASAP - June 27, 2024 with potential for continued employment after this date

**Minimum Starting Rate**:$19.58/hour, plus $2.08/hour wage enhancement for any time worked directly in program or for program planning (orientation, meetings and professional learning not eligible for wage enhancement). Starting rate is determined by experience and applicable education.
