**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The City of Orillia has an opening for the full-time position of Trades 2 Operator in both the Facilities, Climate Change and Operations Division and Water and Wastewater Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department.

**DUTIES**

**Winter Control Activities - Facilities, Climate Change and Operations Division**
- Safely and effectively operate various heavy machinery such as dump trucks, snow plows, loaders, backhoes, graders, street sweepers, sidewalk machines, water truck, hydrovac unit and power equipment and tools to maintain and improve City roads, sidewalks, ditches, storm drains and water and sewer appurtenances.
- Conduct all requirements of winter control operations within the Roads and Storm division for the winter control designated season.
- Work in accordance of all City policies, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Labour guidelines.
- Responsible for completing various logs, forms and other administrative information and documentation including but not limited to daily vehicle and equipment inspections/log sheets, hours of service logs, and time records.
- Participate in shift work and on-call / standby rotation duties for roads and storm functions (30 minute response for on-call/standby duties) as required.

**Water, Sewer and Storm Activities - Water and Wastewater Division**
- Perform non-compliance related activities pertaining to water and sewer functions including locates, backflow devices inspections, installation and repairs, check reads, etc.
- Work under the supervision of various Supervisors to conduct Roads, Storm and Collection/Distribution capital projects.
- Complete Collection and Distribution compliance related requirements (if employee has obtained Operator-In-Training and Entry Level Drinking Water Course accreditation with increased compensation).
- City-related locate requirements as required by Ontario OneCall regulations.
- Assist with water and sewer works including operating equipment such as dump trucks, backhoe, loaders and various power tools, as well as manual labour activities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma or OSSD.
- Minimum of two years’ experience with heavy equipment operation.
- A valid Ontario Class ‘DZ’ driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater operations and water meters an asset.
- Operator-in-Training Certificates and Entry Level Drinking Water Course for Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Wastewater Collection and Water Distribution and Supply an asset.

Compensation for this position is $24.82 to $28.01 per hour for a 40-hour work week plus a comprehensive benefits package. Applications will be accepted until September 2, 2024 at noon.
