1. Must have a Recreation Diploma or Degree. DSW diploma and Kinesiology degree considered.

2. Must be self-directed, demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity and high motivation are musts.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:_

Plans, organizes, implements and participates in hands-on meaningful resident programs. Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights, and endeavors to promote it. Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

Promotes a positive team spirit within the department and the facility.

Supports Ministry of Health Standards and the established policies and procedures of the organization.

Identifies and encourages opportunities for residents to transmit special skills or knowledge to others, both inside and outside the facility

Oversees student placements in conjunction with other department staff.

Maintains appropriate department records including assessments, documentation (Point Click Care).

Participates in the development of Goals and Objectives for the Recreation Department in collaboration with the Program Director.

Ensures effective communication and good human relations with resident’s, families, volunteers, staff of other departments, and other managers.

Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in activation, gerontological and rehabilitation fields

Attends in-services and is responsible for organizing appropriate sessions on Recreation and Rehabilitation.

Facilitates community involvement through participation in the community and arranges performances by local entertainment groups and church groups.

Is responsible for working within the monthly recreation budget with input from the Program Director.

Follows infection control policies as set out in the Infection Control Manual.

Schedule includes every other weekend
