Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (Vineland) is recruiting for a Research Technician, Genomics to work in an industry-driven research environment. **Duties & Responsibilities**:
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Participate in all aspects of the genomics laboratory as needed
- Assist with research activities in the laboratory and greenhouse
- Design and plan experiments in collaboration with the Genomics Laboratory Supervisor
- Troubleshoot protocols and procedures
- Collect data and perform analysis
- Actively participate in team meetings
- Write and review protocols and procedures as needed
- Research new techniques, obtain training and provide training to others
- Engage with members of the home team and others at Vineland
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Inform the Genomics Laboratory Supervisor about reagent ordering needs
- Keep accurate and up-to-date notes for all activities

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education (BSc and/or MSc) in related discipline is required
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a fast-paced molecular biology laboratory setting is required
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence
- Basic knowledge of plant breeding/biology
- Knowledge of genetics and genomics is required
- Experience performing DNA extractions from a number of different plant species
- Experience with various molecular biology techniques and related equipment
- Experience organizing and compiling data
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
- Ability to work well in the context of a dynamic environment with multiple projects running simultaneously
